Fathers, Exercise Your God-Given Rights

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

May the Lord grant you wisdom to raise your children according to the principles of the Lord.

I want to share with you the story of two mothers who had difficult childbirth.

The first woman travailed until twice the setting of the sun and her body was too weak to recover from this difficult birth.

But, before her soul left her lifeless body, she looked upon her child, the source of her agony, and with her last expired breath she called him Benoni – son of my sorrow.

But, Benoni had a father who immediately picked up his son and said, “No! Your name is Benjamin.”

Although the father (Jacob) was torn with grief due to the loss of the love of his life he refused to stifle the future of his son.

So he changed the destiny of his son from sorrow to prosperity.

The second mother in our story also had a long and difficult labor.

Whether or not she died after giving birth we do not know but she too named her newborn baby based on her suffering.

She called his name Jabez- son of my sorrow.

However, Jabez had no father to intervene on his behalf. So he grew up into a troubled teenager and a man who was a pain to everyone.

Eventually, one day Jabez found the Father,

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.”(1 Chronicles 4:10)

Fathers, you have the God-given authority to change your children’s destiny from pain and sorrow to joy and prosperity.

You have the authority to change your children’s destiny from the darkness of evil to the light of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Fathers, you have the God-given authority to change your children’s destiny from affliction and distress to one that is filled with love and compassion.

Fathers, rise up and exercise your God-given authority.

Show your children a father.

Show your children the Father because when they find a father all their needs will be satisfied (John 14:8 NLT/NIV)

Special thanks to my faithful blogging friend, Evidence mutumbu, who inspired me with the last verse (John 14:8) of this prose.

  1. Wow thank you for honoring me.May God bless you even more!

    Then for today’s post you have mentioned something sooo powerful the complicated dimension is when the father curses his own child like this;

    Genesis 49:2-4
2“Gather together and hear, you sons of Jacob,
And listen to Israel your father.

    3“Reuben, you are my firstborn,
My might and the beginning of my strength,
The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power.
4Unstable as water, you shall not excel,
    Because you went up to your father’s bed;
    Then you defiled it—
He went up to my couch.

The question is who will save the “Reubens”.I believe we have men of God representing Him as The father of us all who can confer blessings and reverse those utterances said by those in authority .We have to honor those fathers in the Lord check how this curse was dealt with:

    Deut 33:6
Moses said this about the tribe of Reuben: “Let the tribe of Reuben live and not die out, though they are few in number.

So Moses overruled the curse. So God is doing something there is nothing He cannot reverse in our lives!!

  2. When you mentioned about the fathers day on that post, I actually went to my pastor to discuss what we could do for our fathers in the church .So we actually had a braai today and we were really blessed.
It’s difficult to gather men for fellowship but when they do come together something powerful happens.
So you did sowed that seed in my heart too.
God is amazing how He operates!!!
