Becoming A Man/Woman After God’s Own Heart

And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. (Acts 13:22)

How do you become a man or woman after God’s heart?

Most of us who know the story of David are aware that he was not a perfect man (2 Samuel 11&12).

He made many mistakes in his life. But what set him apart from others is that he had a repentant heart.

Therefore, the most important qualification to be a person after God’s heart is that you have a heart that is willing to repent when you are confronted with your sins.

If your heart is hardened due to sin the Lord is willing to replace your stony heart with one of flesh.

This is a heart that is broken and humble. A heart that is regenerated and hungry for righteousness.

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. (Ezekiel 36:25-28)

Lord, we pray that you will remove the hardness from our hearts and give us one that is soft and pliable to your will and ways.

Lord, save us from all uncleanness and cause us to be reunited in your love. We want to be people with hearts like yours. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!

  1. This is my prayer this week God is amazing .
A heart that can allow us to feel what Christ feels.
We need to be full of compassion so that we can feel for lost souls, pray for them and love them.
Without a heart like that the great commission will not work well

  2. What I’ve learned is to repent of my sins and forgive myself or else that devil is there to remind me over and over again. But when I forgive myself, I remove it from mind, just as God does. He never remembers it again, and neither do I. I shut the door on satan!

    • Amen. Sometimes it is hard to forgive oneself but we must remember that God does not remember our sins only the devil does. Have a great weekend

  3. There was a product that my mom used to buy called ‘hard as nails.’ It kept her nails tough and less responsive to her surroundings. Well that’s what sin is to our hearts – it’s a heart hardener and it makes our heart so tough that we become unresponsive to God and the Truth of His Word, but we can remove those hardened layers as we repent before the Lord, allowing His Word/Truth to penetrate our hearts with His Grace and His Loving-kindness.
