How To Become The Oil And Wine

Why becoming the Oil and Wine can make you a better person in today’s society.

If you are a visitor to this site you may be wondering why I have chosen to name my blog Becoming the Oil and Wine.

A name is unique and personal and its meaning should be able to give you an idea of the characteristics of the person or thing.

It is God’s desire that we become the Oil and Wine.

As stated earlier in a previous blog post where I explained how I started my first blog, I chose the name for my blog based on the book that I wrote entitled Harm not the oil and wine.

The title of this book is from the Bible verse in Revelation 6:6.

When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” (Revelation 6:5-6NKJV)

Over the years we have learned from the Bible scholars and theologians that these verses refer to an impending famine on earth.

Indeed the NKJV entitled this passage as Third Seal: Scarcity on earth.

But, is this really what the Lord intends to tell us in these verses?

At first, when I read this passage I accepted the NKJV interpretation of it.

However, I was unsettled in my spirit about it and so I prayed and asked the Lord to give me His interpretation.

One day while meditating on the Word of God, the Holy Spirit said to me, “Beverley, I am weighing and measuring you?”

I was startled by this information and asked the Lord what have I done to for Him to weigh and measure me.

The Lord replied that He is weighing my deeds and whatever I give to Him He will give the same in return to me. He wants the Oil and Wine! Immediately clarity came to my mind and I understood the meaning of the verses.

The Lord is weighing His children with divine scales to know the integrity of their hearts (See Job 31:6).

Who are God’s children?

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26)

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Mathew 5:9)

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. (1 John 3:9-10)

Base on the above scriptures we know that the children of God are those who believe and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.

They have been born into the family of God. In other words, they have received a spiritual birth through the Lord Jesus Christ.

The children of God are the peacemakers and they are the children of righteousness.

Thus, the children of God are the good seeds or the wheat that the sower sowed.

The bad seeds are the tares sown by the enemy. (See Mathew 13).

Therefore, the wheat and the barley are good seeds. But the Lord does not want you to remain at this level because as wheat you can be sifted easily by Satan. (See Luke 22:31)

The children of God must advance from the wheat and barley stage to the Oil and Wine.

The oil and wine are matured and refined products.

To become these products require been hard-pressed, squeezed, filtered, and aged.

Trials and tribulations press you to teach you humility, patience and obedience while the Holy Spirit is the strainer that will filter the dirt and sediments from your life.

The Word of God will build and develop you into mature products of God.

Benefits of becoming the Oil and Wine

  • As a Father, God gives His children the best.

All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the first fruits of them which they shall offer unto the Lord, them have I given thee.
(Numbers 18:12)

The above scripture was God’s promise to the Old Testament priests.

Through the Lord Jesus Christ you are called to become kings and priests unto God (See Revelation 1:6; 5:10). As such you will inherit the blessings of the priesthood.

Since God is giving you the best of the oil and wine, He also wants the best of the oil and wine from you.

Therefore, you have to become the Oil and Wine.

  • The oil and wine exhibit the characteristics of the Good Samaritan who stopped and helped the injured man by the wayside and poured in the oil and wine. (See Luke 10:25-37)

These characteristics are exemplified in the fruit of the Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such, there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) (Ephesians 5:8-9)

  • The oil and the wine are children of light in the Lord Jesus Christ who will shine in this dark world.

You are children of the day and not the night. You are children of the light and not darkness (1 Thessalonians 5:5).

  • Full blessings and protection.

The oil and wine are fully committed to the Lord and so will receive full blessing and protection from God as noted when He declared to the enemy, “harm not the oil and wine.”

The wheat and barley are measured and found wanting because they only give a fraction of their lives to God thus receiving only a penny’s worth of blessing.

  • The Oil and Wine dwell in the secret place of God abiding under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalms 91).

In the secret place or sanctuary of God is where you will receive wisdom and revelation from God.

You need the wisdom of God to avoid being deceived by the serpent.

Satan and his false prophets cannot deceive the elect with their miracles, signs, and wonders during these unprecedented times (See Matthew 24:22).

Conclusion

Becoming the Oil and Wine in today’s society is necessary to receive full protection from God against the attacks of the enemy, to keep you sheltered during times of trials and to keep you unspotted in this world, which will enable you to live a more victorious life.

  2. Beautiful, and awesome message Beverley. which truly resonates the Truth of Gods Word. Critically important in this generation. It also reminded me of the poem I wrote a year or so ago about who we are in this moment in time.
Thank you for bringing this topic up because my husband and I were just dicussing the emphasis of the wine this morning. I knew you had just blogged about the Oil and the Wine this past week, so I referred to it and read it aloud. Perfect timing I’d say. Gods blessings and grace to you. ♡
