Is there any place for arrogance in the body of Christ? Arrogant is the same as being conceited, haughty or proud.

These are negative attitudes which do not belong to the body of Christ. They are from Satan. However, sometimes when the Lord anoint us with the spirit of wisdom and revelation, we tend to become conceited and feel self-important or self-righteous.

Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, and before honor is humility. (Proverbs 18:12)

Paul received many revelations from God, so the Lord placed a thorn in his flesh to prevent arrogance and pride from building up in his heart.

The Lord refused to remove the thorn so that he would realize how weak, helpless and insignificant he was without God. His strength lies in the hands of God. (2 Corinthians 12:1-10)

God can also place a thorn in our flesh when He begins to give us revelation because He wants us to deliver His word in humility and sincerity.

The Lord also wants us to open our mind and listen to other people’s point of view without degrading or denouncing them as false prophets.

Currently, in our society, there are many false prophets, antichrists, and deception. These people are working under the direct influence of Satan, and their doctrines are not from God.

But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine (Titus 2:1).

But there are also genuine prophets of God whose teachings on a particular area in the Bible may appear different from mine.

In this case, do I have the right to disregard the other person’s view as heresy? Every one of us who are anointed by God can fall into sin, e.g. King Saul (1 Samuel 15).

The Lord is omnipotent and far more superior than the universe which He created. Likewise, His word and the revelation of His word. Therefore, it is physically impossible for a mere human being to bear all the revelation of God’s word. He will be overwhelmed.

Consequently, God reveals His word to us ‘line upon line, here a little there a little,’ meaning in bits and pieces among the body of Christ (Isaiah 28:9-10). Sometimes my understanding of His word may appear different from yours.

Be filled with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship (Exodus 35:31)

When this occurs, what should we do? Do we need to argue, curse, fight and have divisions in the body of Christ? Satan definitely wants us to indulge in this unhealthy behavior, but God wants unity in the Church to receive the full revelation of His word.

A few days ago, I was listening to an evangelist on YouTube. He was teaching about the sons of God and emphasizing that they were not angels in reference to Genesis 6:1-2.

My understanding of that verse is that the sons of God were angels and I have written a post about the fallen angels cohabiting with the daughters of men in the days of Noah.

At first, when I heard that sons of God could also be interpreted as the children of Seth, I arrogantly threw it out and said it was wrong. But, was I right to do that? Notice that my emotion on the matter was arrogant.

Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5)

This attitude is not from God but from the devil. So, my thoughts were being influenced by a proud spirit from Satan.

If I continue along that pathway, I will not receive the full revelation of the word that God wants me to have. I must submit my thoughts to the obedience of Christ and threw out the spirit of pride, arrogance, and conceitedness, and listen to the other peoples’ point of view.

So, I decided to listen to the full length of the sermon and noted the Biblical references that were given.

The evangelist felt that his teaching was the correct one and he displayed a spirit of arrogance because he also stated that any theories that suggest that the sons of God were angels are heresy and false doctrine.

You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me (John 5:39)

After listening to the message, I searched the scriptures, and the evidence in the Bible revealed that the sons of God were not necessarily referring to angels.

What is your opinion on this issue? Who are the sons of God? How can we weed out the spirit of pride from among the Church? Is it possible to get rid of these bad spirits or do we have to wait for the time of harvest?
