Pick Sense Out Of Nonsense

When I was growing up in the rural area of Jamaica, the elderly people use to teach us in Proverbs.

My mother raised her children on Proverbs as a method of discipline and encouragement to us.

Although we did not understand most of her proverbial phrases, they were delivered in such a strict manner that they usually accomplished their goals.

I understood most of my mother’s proverbs when I became an adult and gained my own experience.bucket

Sometimes when I encounter a difficult situation I can still hear her proverbs plainly in my spirit.

For example, whenever I am tempted to buy unnecessary and expensive items I can hear her voice saying, “Bev, don’ put yu basket where yu hafi tek tick to pull it down.” (Do not place your basket so high that you cannot reach it)

When I am searching for parking space at the limited car parks in Tortola, I can hear her advising me, “Bev, de pig se de fus wata yu ketch yo walla.” (The first water that you find you wash in it)

This year, I decided to challenge myself to increase my savings account by saving $1 every day. I can hear your laughter in the background.

The amount is small but, “fus lauf a no lauf”

I will have the last laugh at the end of the year when I tell you the sum of money that I saved. After all, as my mama used to say, “one, one cocoa full basket.”

This new year I have a Jamaican proverb for you. Of course, it was one of my mother’s favorite. Whenever we heard some sensational news that sounds too extreme to be true she would tell us, “Listen and pick sense out of nonsense.”

It is good to be rooted firmly in your belief especially as a Christians. However, it is also important that you do not get stuck in traditions and refused to listen to someone else’s opinions.wp-1483201565683.jpg

You can open our mind and listen to other views irrespective of how controversial or ridiculous they may appear. My advice is to listen and pick sense out of nonsense.

Take the sensible information and compare them with the Word of God and ask Him to reveal the truth to you.

Always remember that the world contains many deceptions, but the Word of God is FAITHFUL and TRUE (Revelation 22:6).

The Bible states that the coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan with all power, signs and lying wonders. Many Christians are waiting for this person, a man, who is the son of Satan to enter the world.

However, thousands of lawless men and wicked people have come and gone in this world since Paul prophesied these words.

For example, how would you describe a man who chopped off an innocent person’s head without blinking an eye or showing any mercy or remorse? Isn’t that man the son of Satan?

Well, many people similar to those barbarians have been in this world, and much more will be coming. Therefore, the prophetic words of Paul are not referring to one particular person (the antichrist), but it is a system designed by man.

Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. (Matthew 24:11-12)

Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. (Matthew 24:11-12)

This system is in the world today, and it is deceiving us by demonstrating power, signs and lying wonder. I gave you an example of such a system, and you can read about it here.

The system of advanced science and technology under the direct leadership of Satan was on earth during the days of Noah. This system has returned to earth once more as prophesied by Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2.

Some people may consider some of the theories on the web including mine as conspiracies. That is fine but do not dismiss them.

The aim of this blog is to motivate you to conduct your personal research and above all to read the Bible for yourself to confirm any information that you receive.

Do not swallow hook line and sinker every teachings and doctrine that the mega-churches’ prophets, pastors, and evangelists teach about the events that will take place at the end of this world especially the interpretation of the visions in the Book of Revelation.

Berean were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. (Acts 17:11)

These (Bereans) were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. (Acts 17:11)

Sadly, many of these prophets are part of the deception that is in this world.

The genuine Word of God is taught in small churches in small communities because the majority of the pastors in these churches do not have a political or monetary agenda.

Their primary concern is to teach you the truth of God’s Word.

Listen to the truth, do not listen to deception!

A few days ago I saw a post on Facebook by someone who called himself an international prophet.

He declared that the Lord said that in 2017, the computers in the banks will malfunction and many people will receive a large amount of money in their accounts and the banks will allow some of these people to keep their money.

Be honest with yourself, do you believe this was a Word from the Lord?

Would the Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe steal money from someone else’s account to give to us? Does God need to resort to stealing when everything in this world belongs to Him?

For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped[d] from those who live in error. (2 Peter 2:18)

For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. (2 Peter 2:18)

Who is described as a liar and a thief?

Yes, Satan!

Well, the prophet said that he was speaking on behalf of God.

Do you know that the article in a few minutes after it was posted, received hundreds of likes and many people commented, “Hallelujah; glory to God; I receive in Jesus name; thank you, Lord; to God be the glory; it must be done, etc., etc…”’

Some persons even quoted a verse in Bible that stated, the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous (Proverbs 13:22).

Their interpretation of that scripture is that one day God is going to steal the wealth of the wicked and give it to the righteous. Is that the meaning of that verse? Is God a ‘Robin Hood?’ You tell me?

For the idols speak delusion; The diviners envision lies, And tell false dreams; They comfort in vain. (Zechariah 10:2)

For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. (Zechariah 10:2)

Those people do not receive the love of the truth of God’s Word which will save them from the deceitfulness of this world.

Hence, the Lord said that He would send them strong delusion that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who believe not the truth but have pleasure in unrighteousness (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12).

The Facebook commentators eagerly received the word from the ‘prophet’ because they take pleasure in supporting unrighteousness and deception. If they do not repent they will be condemned.

Some of these people are innocent followers who do not know any better because they do not have the knowledge of God’s Word, while others are willful.

If you want to know how to receive the true knowledge of God you can learn it right here on this blog.pray

This year is a special one for this blog, and you cannot afford to miss any of the posts.

The Lord has declared that during the year 2017, every honest, humble, faithful, hard-working and long-suffering person will receive their increase.

And, if you continue on the path of righteousness, loving the truth of God’s Word, your latter days will be greater than your former and in your house you will have peace.

Keep the faith, don’t give up!

  1. Thank you Beverley. You are offering sound wisdom. There are conspiracy theories and there are conspiracy facts. As your mother rightly taught we must pick the sense out of the nonsense as we put it on the scale and weigh it with the Holy Word of God.

More wisdom from Gods Word are also found in Proverbs such as Proverbs 11:1, 16:11 and 20:23.

If it doesn’t align with the Word of God, then throw it out.

Someone once told me that out of all the senses, the least of all is common sense.

    Have a nice weekend Beverley.

    • Hi Susan. I appreciate your continuous support. Do you have a blog? I have been searching for it but no luck. It is simple amazing the amount of theories that are on the internet concerning endtime prophecies, creation, aliens etc. My concern is that the young people are reading them and believing everything. The church are avoiding these teachings so the younger generation do not know the facts. It is a shame. But as you said the least sense of most people is common sense. ☺. If you do not have a blog and you would like to write on mine I can send you the link. Please let me know.

      • Thank you for your encouraging words, Beverley. No, I don’t have a blog of my own. I’m afraid I wouldn’t be very consistent with it. However, I usually like to comment on various Christian websites whenever the Holy Spirit inspires me. You can send me the link if you like, but most likely I will add a comment to what others would write mainly to fellowship and encourage others. God bless 🙂

  2. I took the plunge, Beverley. Now I need to learn how to navigate the site before I submit my blog to you for your review. 🙂 This will be fun, right? I couldn’t use my name, so my user name is lilyofthevalley. I hope I did that right.

      • Hi Beverley. I’m really having a tough time posting for review. I submitted one called Heaven and Earth but I don’t know what happened to it. I also don’t know how to find my drafts. Very frustrating.

      • I suggest that you write your article on a paper or your computer first before submitting it on the blog. When you save the draft I receive it to review and publish. However, there is no pressure. Write your thoughts in your personal notebooks at your time and space. When it is completed you can copy and paste it on the blog.
