The Barnabas Award

An award is a recognition of excellent service!

I have been given various awards but was never able to find the time to respond.

Today, I have decided to reply to this award.

So, I have decided to postpone the final part of the series Following the footsteps of Christ (Part Four) until tomorrow morning.

The Barnabas award is one way of meeting and encouraging fellow bloggers.

Purpose of the Barnabas Award

“You have been chosen for this recognition because of the encouragement and inspiration you bring to your readers.”

Thank you, Mrs. Holliman from GOD’S LOVE for nominating me for this prestigious award.

It has been a pleasure reading your blog.

Mrs. Holliman loves the Lord and has a passion for sharing God’s Word, which is evident in her blog.

One of my favorite posts on her blog is True love comes from God.

She described the love of God in such a profound and real way that you can feel the warmth of God’s love.

“You will always feel like you are in a peaceful and happy place in your life”

Quotation from Mrs. Holliman’s post, True love comes from God.

She also stated that God’s love makes you feel like you have butterflies in your stomach. 🙂 I love that!

The way the Barnabas Award Works:

1)Thank the person who nominated you and share their blog.

2)Think of five bloggers that encourage and inspire you and nominate them.

3)List 5 things about yourself

4)Lastly, ask your nominees 5 questions. Why 5? Because it is the number that signifies grace.

Five facts about myself

1. I am a Jamaican who resided in the BVI for the past nineteen years. I worked as a Medical Imaging Technologist for over thirty years.

2. I have been a Christian for almost all my entire life and have not regretted one moment of it.

3. I love the Lord and I love spending time in His Word.

4. My childhood dream is to become a well-known author.

I published my first book in 2017 entitled Harm Not The Oil And Wine,  which you can be purchased on Amazon here. This book is also in the process of revision for republication.

5. God has called me into fulltime ministry so my future aspiration is to become of fulltime Christian Writer and Blogger.

Five Bloggers who encouraged me

I have acquired quite a number of blogging friends who have encouraged me tremendously.

1. Susan from: Lillyofthevalley (Becomingtheoilandwine)

Susan has been the primary person, apart from my daughter, who encouraged me since I began blogging.

She also took the time out of her busy schedule to post a daily prophetic word directly into my life.

She also engaged my blog with the most lively commentaries.

Susan does not have a personal blog, but she used this blog to post her inspiring poems.

Two of my favorite poems that Susan wrote are: Onward, Christian Soldiers and God loves you.

2. Minister Aldtric Johnson from: BE BLESSTIFIED!

Minister Johnson wrote unique and inspiring posts. They are so good, you just have to read them for yourself to believe.

I can’t choose a favorite post because I love all of his posts.

Mr. Johnson and his wife has a very lively and engaging Facebook page.

They are a wonderful couple and you feel blessed just watching them together. They are a joy to behold!

3. Candice from Clneg.wordpress.com

This wonderful woman of God is a great inspiration to me.

She liked and commented on all my posts. I truly appreciate her steadfast support.

4. Matthew from Jesusluvsall’s Blog

This inspiring man of God has been through and still going through some rough waters, but he remained steadfast in his faith and trust in God.

I truly admire his generosity and resilience.

5. Dawn from Drawing Closer to Christ

Dawn, I know that you have been nominated for quite a number of these rewards so do not feel pressured to reply.

God is taking this inspirational woman of God to higher and deeper places in Him.

I just love her deep passion and love for the Lord. All her posts are unique and inspiring so feel free to peruse her blog.

Please pray a special prayer for all my nominees because they are called into the kingdom of God for such a time as this.

The devil is working overtime and we need to arrest him and put a halt to his tricks in the name of Jesus.

My answers to the five questions that I was asked.

1) Who in your life is your biggest encourager?

My biggest encourager was my mother. She has passed away, but I can still remember her words of encouragement to me.

2) How do you see yourself as being encouragement to others?

This blog is my main source to encourage others. However, whenever my path cross with anyone I tried to encourage them as best as I can.

3) When was the last time someone gave you words of encouragement?

Every day from all of you guys who are part of this wonderful blogging community.

4) When you are down, what encourages you to get back up and keep pressing on?

The Word of God.

5) Who was your greatest encourager when you first accepted Christ?

My mother. Her love for God and deep faith has been the greatest legacy that she left me.

My five questions to the nominees

If you notice, I have added a few small touches to this award so my questions will not be exactly the same.

1) Who in your life is your biggest encourager?

2) When you are down, what encourages you to get back up and keep pressing on?

3) Do you like to encourage others and why?

4) What motivates you to get up each morning and what is the first thing that you do in the morning?

5) Who was your greatest encourager when you first accepted Christ?

Feel free to respond whenever you have the time.

Final words of encouragement

Remember, earthly rewards are good but the best reward that you will ever receive is the Lord God in your life.

After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. (Genesis 15:1)

Continue to do good without getting weary because in due season you will reap a great reward in this life if you do not give up.

Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded. (2 Chronicles 15:7)

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:3-4)

Ultimately, your final reward will be everlasting life with the Lord when He returns.

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (Revelation 22:12)

Thank you for reading and God bless you!

  1. Congrats Beverly! So nice learning you are a fellow “yardie” as myself 😉
I love what you said about ABBA being our best and ultimate reward, there is nothing that can be compared to having Him in our lives. Blessings always.

  2. Congratulations to you, Beverley, and to all the others mentioned in today’s blog, including myself. Thank you. I’m honored, humbled and speechless. You have been such an inspiration and encourager to me publicly and privately. I will need more time to respond to this since I must get myself ready for work. More later……God bless. ❤

    • Hi Susan. Take your time. There is no rush. Most of the awards that I was nominated for I could not find the time to respond, but when I received this one I immediately thought about you and decided to respond right away. If I had put it off I would not remember to return to it. Have a blessed day today. 🙂❤

  3. Congratulations and much deserved Beverly! And thank you so much for nominating me for the Barnabas Award and sharing my blog with your followers. It is always a joy to find other believers in Messiah Yeshua using their talents and gifts to the glory of His name and fulfilling the calling He has placed on their lives.

Unfortunately, outside of your blog—which I read and am blessed by daily—presently, I don’t follow many bloggers. Outside of studying Scripture and reading inspirational books, I don’t have time for much else—so I will list my five favorites sites on Instagram that I follow—Jesus is Calling, MyFaithvotes, Gods411 (great videos on prayer), Annegrahamlotz—Jesus in Me and ElShaddaiministriesus.
    Five things about myself:
    1) I am Cherokee and Jewish—although born and raised in Texas, I’ve lived in northeast Georgia most of my life.
    2) Each morning I begin the day with the Modeh Ani prayer—I thank you, Sovereign Living and Eternal King for graciously giving me back my soul in mercy, Great is Your faithfulness, O LORD unto me (English translation). I pray it in Hebrew and English.
    3) The LORD has always been my first love—I’ve never had a moment in my life that I did not know or have a personal relationship with Him. My public profession of faith in Yeshua as my Messiah, Lord and King came shortly after high school. I attend a Messanic Congregation.
    4) Although I began modeling and acting at the age of 16, writing and storytelling is my calling and vocation. I am an honors graduate with degrees in Journalism, Mass Communications and an MBA in business and finance. Throughout my career I’ve enjoyed the blessings of having my own editorial advice column; having my first one-act play and multiple poems published; served as editor for several magazines; NPR and Georgia Public Radio programming and social media director; and currently enjoy multi-media business and communications consulting. I am also a communications professor and enjoy mentoring immensely.
    5) My future aspirations are to complete my PhD in education, publish a daily devotional currently in the works based on the Book of Psalms—producing and hosting another podcast program to the Glory of Adonai! Amen!!!
