Crumbs From The Master’s Table

If your only desire is to get the crumbs from the master’s table, you will be disappointed.

Lazarus, the beggar, was desperately hungry that he desired to eat the crumbs from the rich man’s table. But, he did not receive any.

After the beggar died he was given a resting place inside Abraham’s bosom while the rich man was tormented in hell.

Another story is told in the Bible of a woman who desired the crumbs that were thrown to the dogs.

Instead, she received far more than crumbs. She received the children’s bread because her daughter was healed and delivered from devils.

Healing is the children’s bread.

The human nature likes to help, but the question is: What kind of help?

The help that men gives to the needy are like crumbs thrown to the dogs.

The crumbs do not satisfy the hunger, neither does it change your circumstances.

The crumbs only wet your appetite for more and makes you dependent.

Sadly, this is the type of help that are most times given to those who are in need.

Help from the master

I praise the Lord that crumbs do not exist in God’s store room.

So even if you desire the crumbs from the table of the Lord you will not receive any.

Instead, the Lord will spread a table before you in the presence of your enemies.

A table filled with oil, wine, bread, meat, honey, milk and everything that sustain health. And you do not have to spend a penny.

In addition to all of this delectable feast, the Lord will anoint your head with oil until your cup runs over.

It does not matter your position or status.

It does not matter your circumstances in life.

The Lord will spread a table filled with good things for you even in the wilderness.

There is even more

Because you have continued with Jesus in His temptations and despite persecutions, the Lord will appoint you a kingdom even as the Father has appointed unto Him;

That you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (Luke 22:29-30)

As I wrote this post, I remembered one of my favorite chorus that we sang in the church that I grew up in Jamaica.

If you only know the blessings of salvation

If you only know the blessings that salvation brings you will never stay away.

If you only saw the table spread with lovely things you will come to the feast today.

For the door is open wide and the master bids you come and nothing you have to pay.

So be wise and step inside and do not be like some who have thrown their only chance away. (Unknown author)

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. (Isaiah 55:1-2)

Do you still desire the crumbs from the master’s table?
