Knowing The Truth

Every person has their own version of the truth.

People all over the world have various religious belief and they all believe that they have the truth.

Let us look briefly at the belief of a few of the major religions.

The Hindus believe that Brahman (universal soul) is the principle and main source of the universe. Hinduism is based on the concept of reincarnation and is defined by the laws of Karma.

Karma is the intent and actions of an individual (cause) that influence the future of that individual (effect). (Wikipedia.org)

Buddhism was founded during the fourth or fifth century in North India by Siddhartha Gautama who became known as the Buddha.

Gautama left his indulgent life as a son of a warrior prince to seek the truth about human existence.

He claimed he found spiritual enlightenment and taught his followers that suffering is a part of life, but there is a path to where suffering ends (nirvana).

This path is based on doing, speaking and living right, and having a mind set to do the right things.

Islam was founded in Arabia by Muhammed between 610 and 632 AD.

Muhammed claimed that he had a vision of the angel Gabriel who said the he was to become prophet.

He began to teach that there is only one God whose name is Allah and everyone must submit to him. If you reject God you will be punished.

Muhammed also believed that there is a heaven and hell and the world will end in judgment.

His followers were known as Muslims and they believe that Muhammad is the true and final prophet of Allah.

The Muslims do not believe that there is a mediator between God and man. They believe that Jesus was just a prophet.

Judaism believe that there is one God,  Yahweh, who selected Abraham to be the father of His chosen people.

Judaism holy writing is known as the Torah and includes the books of the Old Testament among other books not included in the canon of scriptures.

Their most important holy day is the Sabbath. They do not believe that Jesus was the Messiah and are still waiting for the coming of the Messiah.

Confucianism was founded by Confucius in Northern China (551-479 B.C.) He viewed education as the way for self transformation.

The Confucians believe that people should be loyal and live a virtuous lifestyle.

As Christians we also believe in one God who is known to us in the Bible as Jehovah,  Yeshua or God Almighty – the Creator of the universe.

The foundation of Christisnity is based on  the principles of Judaism.

But, we believe that the Messiah is Jesus Christ the Holy Son of God who died for the sins of humanity.

We believe in the triune God or Trinity – the Father,  Son and Holy Spirit who is One.

We believe that only through the Lord Jesus Christ we we will see the Father.

A few other religious sects, cults, societies and modern day religion are Lucifarianism, Satanism, UFO religions, Scientology, New Age Movements  and Spiritualism.

The fact of the matter is that people will believe in anything that they think will lead them to a path of enlightenment or eternal life.

On the other hand, some people don’t believe in any religion or God such as the atheist.

The world is a kaleidoscope of different beliefs and truths. Everyone thinks they have the truth.

But, what is the truth?

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:32)

Jesus said that you will know the truth when you hear it. And, above all, when you know the truth it will make you free.

Therefore, if you believe that your religion is the truth then ask yourself if it sets you free.

Does your religious truth gives you peace of mind?

Does the truth you know deliver you from sin?

Can your truth heals and restores you?

Can your truth comforts you when you are discouraged and cast down?

Will your truth guides you on thre path to righteousness?

Can your truth leads you to God – the Father?

Can your truth protects you from the onslaught of the enemy?

Are you able to cast all of your burdens upon the truth you know and walk away with peace and contentment?

The truth that I know is able to do far more than all the above.

The truth that I believe and know is the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the truth and He is called Faithful and True.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  (John 14:6)

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. (Revelation 19:11)

How about you? Can your truth sets you free?
