Overcoming Worry by Seeking God’s Kingdom
Seeking the kingdom of God.
“Therefore, do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:31-34 NKJV)
One of the things that is easy for any of us to do is worrying.
We worry about our finances. We worry about our family, our jobs and just about anything in this life.
We are quick to worry about anything that appear to be a problem whether it is genuine or perceived.

The dictionary defines worrying as “tormenting oneself with or suffering from disturbing thoughts.”
The Bible’s definition of worrying is to be anxious or troubled with cares.
In the parable of the sower, the seed that were sowed among thorns represent those who hear the Word of God but are “choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life and bring no fruit to perfection.” (Luke 8:14)
In other words, worrying is like thorns and thistles that killed the plants that are growing from the good seed.
Therefore, worrying will stifle the Word of God in your life.
Worrying will also torment your life.
The Bible tells us that fear also bring torment (1 John 4:18). Thus, worrying is akin to fear.
If you are fearful about something you will worry about.
The enemy has unleashed a spirit of fear in the atmosphere in the year 2025. This is similar to what had happened during the COVID pandemic in 2019/2020.

The new policies from the Trump administration on immigration and tariffs are releasing fear in the hearts of many people who are worrying about their livelihood and even their existence.
Jesus knew all the things that will take place in our society today and He provided the remedy for us.
He tells us to seek first the kingdom of God.
But, what is the kingdom of God?
Is it church membership? Is it church titles or the amount of offering and tithes that you give?
Romans 14:17 tells us that the kingdom of God is not meat or drink.
Hence, Jesus tells us not to worry about what we will eat or drink. Neither should we worry about the clothes that we wear.
God already took care of the material things from the beginning of creation when He commanded the earth to bring “forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.” (Genesis 1:11 NKJV).

The Lord God commanded the sun and moon to bring forth light to sustain life on earth.
The Lord also declared to humanity, “Be fruitful, multiply, replenish and dominate the earth” (Genesis 1:28 NKJV).
The spoken Word of God is alive and will not return to him void, but must accomplish whatever pleases the Lord and will prosper in the thing for which He sent it (Isaiah 55:11).
The material things are well secured by God so all that we need to do is to seek the kingdom of God!
What is the Kingdom of God?
God’s kingdom is a realm of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, attainable only through faith and trust in God (Romans 14:17).
Jesus even goes further to give us an in-depth knowledge of the kingdom of God.
Jesus teaches us that the kingdom of God is like the seeds that are sown on good fertile ground who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” (Mark 4:20 NKJV). They bear fruits with patience (Luke 8:15)
The kingdom of God according to one of Jesus’ parables is faith and trust in God who will make the seed or word grow and develop in you to produce fruit (Mark 4:26-29).
Even if your faith is as small as a mustard seed “you will (be able to say) to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20 NKJV)

No giants or mountains will be able to stand in your way.
The kingdom of God is the light that you shine before men so that they will see your good works and glorify God your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16; Luke 8:16-18).
The transfiguration of Christ was a reflection of the Kingdom of God. When we behold the glory of the Lord we will be transformed into His image from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18)
The kingdom of God is humility. “Whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:4 NKJV)
The kingdom of God is loving God with all your heart and soul and loving your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:28-34)
The Kingdom of God is eternal life and we must radically put away sin or anything or anyone that causes us to sin in order to enter (Mark 9:42-48).
When we put together all of Jesus’ teachings concerning the kingdom of God we recognize that the kingdom of God ultimately represents a spiritual haven that allows believers to rest in God, free from anxiety about worldly concerns.

“For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.” (Hebrews 4:10 NKJV)
In this place of rest in God we will cease from worrying.
Ultimately we will be free from anxiety and worldly concerns.
Are you at rest in God?
I pray that if you have not yet found the Kingdom of God you will endeavor to seek the Lord and you will find Him.
Be blessed!
