I have always been intrigued by the image of gold that king Nebuchadnezzar erected in the plain of Dura in Babylon (Daniel 3).
After he erected the image he requested that all his princes and rulers attended the dedication ceremony where he commanded the people to bow down and worship this image when they heard the sound of the music.
Anyone who did not worship the golden image would be killed in the fiery furnace.
Some of the questions concerning this image that boggles my mind I will share with you my fellow blogging friends to get your views.
I recognized that most of you have an indepbt knowledge of the Word of God and so your input is valuable to me and my readers.
The height of king Nebuchadnezzar’s image is three score or sixty cubits and its breadth is six cubits. This is 66.
The prophet John had a vision of a second beast that arise from the earth (Revelation 13:11-18).
This beast exercised all the miraculous powers of the first beast in his sight or presence.
The second beast told the dwellers on earth to create an image to the first beast.
He gave life to this image and commanded that those who do not worship the image of the beast be killed.
He also caused everyone to receive a mark in their hands and foreheads so that they could buy and sell. The number of this beast is 666.
1. Do you see the similarity between Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image and the second beast?
2. What is the connection between the golden image and this beast?
3. Is there a reason why the image is 66 while the beast 666?
4. Why were the people ordered to worship the golden image only when they heard the music?
5. In the previous chapter (Daniel 2), God gave the king a dream of a great statue that prophesied the events that would take place in the latter days.
Do you think that Satan inspired the king to erect this golden statue in defiance against God’s prophetic Word?
6. Many people have wondered where was Daniel during this time? Why wasn’t he with the three Hebrew men who did not bow to the image?
As I carefully read the passage I realized that Daniel was given a higher position in Babylon than the other three young men.
Daniel sat in the gate of the king while the others were in charge of the affairs of the province of Babylon (Daniel 2:49).
The position of Daniel was one of higher authority next to the king.
In the previous chapter when Daniel revealed the dream and interpretation to the king, he fell down and worshipped Daniel.
The king revered Daniel as a god so most naturally he was not required to worship this image.
The book of Daniel is remarkable and I believe the events that occurred in this book are a type and shadow of the events that are occuring in the world today.
I, therefore, value your views and opinions on this.
Many theories and opinions are on the internet and Youtube regarding the beast of revelation and Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image.
However, I prefer to hear your views.
Thank you for reading and commenting.
God bless you.
