Do you know that God is resting?
Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
Genesis 2:1-2 NKJV
After God created the entire universe and all living things within it, He rested. He did not not do anything else.
And, He is still resting!
What does this mean for humanity?
If God is still resting, does it mean that He will not help humanity?
Does it mean that God will not intervene and put an end to the oppression and injustices on this earth?
The Implication
Since God is resting it means that He is no longer working.
It means, therefore, that God accomplished a complete work for humanity in six days.
He provided a physical home (earth) for humanity.
He prepared salvation for fallen humanity through His Son, Jesus Christ.
During those six days, God provided food and clothing for humanity.
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Matthew 6:26 NKJV
God made arrangements for your safety and protection (Isaiah 54:17, Psalms 91).
God provided an escape from all temptations (1 Corinthians 10:13 ).
He made provision for long life and health through the Tree of life. (Genesis 2:9)
If everything for humanity was already done, why are there suffering, poverty, violence, oppression and injustices on earth?
The answer is sin!
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.
Romans 5:12 NKJV
Because sin has corrupted the entire human race resulting in wide spread suffering and oppression, God is inviting us to enter into His rest.
Within God’s rest, you will find peace in spite of this war-torn world.
In God’s rest, your sorrow will turn into joy.
In God’s rest you will be protected.
In God’s rest you you will experience all the blessings that God created for you during the six days that He labored.
Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
Hebrews 4:11 NKJV
God is calling you into His rest and it is important that you do not harden your heart (Hebrews 4:6).
Because there will eventually come a day when God will arise from His rest.
When God Arises
When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
Revelation 8:1 NKJV
When the Lamb of God opened the seventh seal the entire heaven became silent because they recognized that something catastrophic was about to happen.
The heavenly hosts became silent because God rose from His rest!
God arises from His rest to proclaim judgment upon the earth.
He arises from His rest to avenge the blood of the martyred saints.
God arises from His rest to strike the enemy.
However, everyone who obediently entered into God’s rest will be saved from the outpouring of God’s wrath upon the earth.
Therefore, be still! Do not fear!
Be still, God will be exalted among the nations. God will be exalted in the earth!

The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah (Psalms 46:10-11)
