The phrase, “Son of man” appears 193 time in the King’s James Bible and specifically 84 times in the New Testament.
In the Old testament, the phrase refers to humans.
It is used to emphasize the frailty of man, his impure heart and the fact that God is not like the son of man (humanity).

In fact, Numbers 23:19 states specifically that, “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?”
God’s Word is reliable and eternal. He cannot be compared with humanity.
When we look at the atrocities that man is inflicting upon the world today and when we see the injustices to the poor and weak, one wonders if we recognize that we are mere dust and our days are like grass.
Our days are like grass and today we may flourish like a flower but tomorrow we can be suddenly cut off (Psalms 103:15).
Who is the son of man?
Interestingly, in the New Testament, “the son of man” refers to Jesus.
I believe that God wants to emphasize to us that Jesus came to earth with the same weaknesses as humans but was without sin.
Thus, the New Testament tells us that the Son of man is God and He has power to forgive sins, even the sins of those who betrayed Him.
Even though He lived on earth for a period of time, His kingdom is not of this world.
Hence, while living on earth He had no place to lay His head.
While on earth, Jesus healed the sick, set the captives free, opened the blind eyes, drove out demons and commanded the cripple to,
“Arise! Take up your bed and walk.”
The Son of man did many mighty works on earth, but He had one ultimate mission.
For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. (Matthew 18:11 KJV)
Many people, even His closest friends) did not understand His mission and so they mocked, betrayed and finally delivered Him up to be crucified.
However, the enemy could not end His mission because similar to Jonah, who spent three days and nights in the belly of a great fish, the Son of man spent the same amount of time in the heart of the earth.
The Son of man’s entire life was to serve the people and to give His life as a ransom for humanity.
The Son of man’s sacrifice benefits all of us today.
Therefore, He wants us to believe and accept that what He did was the penalty for our sins.
If we do we will be forgiven and our relationship with God will be restored.

Do you believe this? Are you willing to accept the Son of man today?
If you do, you will be rewarded with everlasting life upon His return to earth.
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. (Matthew 24: 44 KJV)
When the son of man returns He will be the Lord of the sabbath and He will separate the wheat from the tares and judge the earth.
The Son of man is, therfore, asking you,
“Who do you say the son of man is?“
Your answer should be,
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:16 KJV)
