The wilderness is a season of severe trials and testing.
It is a dry period in your life where you might feel as if God has forgotten you.
Due to the severity of this season, you may wonder, Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
Can God open the windows of heaven and pour out supernatural blessings even in the midst of trials?

Testing in the wilderness.
The children of Israel wandered forty years in the wilderness. An eleven day journey took them forty long years (Deuteronomy 1:2-3).
Their stubbornness and unbelief caused them to remain stuck in the wilderness.
They circled the same mountain for forty years.
The Israelites’ unbelief was difficult to understand because they were eye witnesses to the many great miracles of God.
They saw God parted the Red sea so that they could cross over the other side on dry lands and then they watched as their enemies perished in the sea.
They saw the presence of the Lord as He led them through the wilderness by a cloud in the day and a pillar of fire in the night.
They saw the Lord split open the rock in the wilderness and water gushes out like a spring.
In spite of these amazing miracles from God, the people continued to complain.
They asked, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?”
“For they did not believe God or trust him to care for them.” (Psalms 78:22)
Despite their unbelief, Psalms 78: 23-31 NLT tells us,
“But he (God) commanded the skies to open; he opened the doors of heaven. He rained down manna for them to eat; he gave them bread from heaven. They ate the food of angels! God gave them all they could hold.
He released the east wind in the heavens and guided the south wind by his mighty power. He rained down meat as thick as dust— birds as plentiful as the sand on the seashore! He caused the birds to fall within their camp and all around their tents.
The people ate their fill. He gave them what they craved. But before they satisfied their craving, while the meat was yet in their mouths, the anger of God rose against them, and he killed their strongest men. He struck down the finest of Israel’s young men. (Psalms 78:23-31 NLT)
Yet he was merciful and forgave their sins and did not destroy them all. Many times he held back his anger and did not unleash his fury! For he remembered that they were merely mortal, gone like a breath of wind that never returns. (Psalms 78:38-39 NLT)

Note that the mercy of God overrides His anger.
Fast forward to many years later when the Israelites were living in the Promised Land, which was ruled by their desired king.
There was a severe famine in the land due to an ongoing siege by the enemy. (2 Kings 7)
The man of God prophesied that there will be an abundance of food in the city during the famine.
But the king’s officer contradicted him and said, ““That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” (2 Kings 7:2)
But the Lord did open the windows of heaven and poured out such a great blessing that there was not room enough to receive it.(Malachi 3:10).
However, the king’s officer perished at the gate of the city and did not partake of it because of his unbelief.
Do you believe that God can prepare a table in your wilderness?
If you are still in doubt, pray that God will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing in the midst of your wilderness.
Regardless of your present circumstances.
Regardless of your financial status.
Regardless of the difficult circumstances, believe God for an open heaven.
Hallelujah!
What happens when God Opens?
Throughout the Bible we see many evidences of extraordinary things that happen when God opens the window or door of heaven.
Let us, therefore, examine some of these great things that happen when God opens.
When God opens:
The rocks pour forth water to quench the weary and thirsty soul.
When God opens:
Desolate heights become green pastures;
Valleys turn into fountain;
The wilderness becomes pools of water
And the dry land turns into overflowing springs.
When the Lord God opens:
The blind sees!
The deaf hears!
Mute speaks!
Infirmities fleas!
Bonds are loosed!
Prisoners are freed
And the graves release their dead.
When God opens:
Demons and devils, idols and idolatries, perverts and perversions, greed and vanity are swallowed beneath the earth.
When God opens, the barren womb brings forth life and set apart exclusively for God.
When God opens, a donkey speaks wisdom and rebuke a prophet.
When God opens, you will see battalions of warrior angels in chariots of fire armed with drawn sword ready to fight your battle.
When God opens, you will speak boldly the mystery of Christ.
When God opens, you will gain knowledge of the most High and see visions of the Almighty.
Like Isaiah, you will see the Lord high and lifted up with His train of mercy overflowing the temple.
You will hear angels singing, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”(Isaiah 6:3 NKJV)
Prayer
Let us pray that the door of our faith will be opened to believe that all things are possible with God.
Let us ask God to open the windows of heaven so that we can see visions and receive revelations of the Most High.
Let us pray that we will see the gate of heaven and receive reassurance of God’s presence with us.
Let us pray that the heaven will be opened to us and we will see the Son of God who is called Faithful and True.
We will see His eyes as flames of fire and the many crowns on His head. We will see Him as King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:11).
Lord, we pray that you will open unto us the gates of righteousness and lead us on a clean and pure path.
We pray that you will open the windows of heaven and give us the former and latter rain in its season and bless the work of our hands.
Lord, pour on us the food of angels so that we will be satisfied.
Pour on us living water so that we will not thirst again.
Release the east, west north and south winds, and rain down heavenly meat to satisfy our hungry souls.
Rain down fire from heaven to purge out sins and purify our lives.
Lord, we pray that when you open heaven your blessings will pour on us and overtake us.
We will be blessed in the city and we will be blessed in the country. We will be blessed in the fruits of our body and no sickness will take charge.
We will be blessed in the produce of our field and whatever we set our hands to do. We will be blessed in your daily provision.
We will be blessed in our going out and our coming in from this time forth and even forevermore (Psalms 27).
We declare that when the enemy rise up against us they shall stumble and fall and flee in seven directions.
I pray that:
“The Lord will open to you (us) His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your (our) land in its season, and to bless all the work of your (our) hand (s). You (We) shall lend to many nations, but you (we) shall not borrow.
And the Lord will make you (us) the head and not the tail; you (we) shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you (we) heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I (He) command you (us) today, and are careful to observe them. (Deuteronomy 28:12-13)
Amen!
Closing Word
When God opens you will sing praises to the King of kings and Lord of lords.
When the conquering Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, opens, no man can shut (Rev. 3:8).
As you walk in the presence of God let your life reflects holiness and transparency so that the eyes of the Lord will be opened day and night towards you.
His ears will be opened towards your prayers to listen every time you call upon Him and answer your prayers.
The Lord will open the doors of favor in your lives.
Receive your blessings.
