The Good Shepherd
Main characteristics of the good Shepherd.
-
The Good Shepherd enters through the door.
Anyone who enters through a window or by any other means is a thief and a robber.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20)
-
The good Shepherd calls His sheep by their names.
An imposter does not know the names of the sheep.
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name; you are Mine. (Isaiah 43:1)
-
The sheep knows the voice of the good Shepherd.
Then he said, ‘The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth. (Acts 22:14)
-
The sheep follows the good Shepherd wherever He goes.
They will not follow a stranger.
As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.”So he arose and followed Him. (Matthew 8:9)
-
The good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
He will not run away when a wolf or other wild animals attack the sheep.
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:6-8)
-
The good Shepherd lead His sheep into green pastures and restores them.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. (Psalms 23:1-3)
-
The Good Shepherd keeps His sheep together.
“I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob, I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together like sheep of the fold, like a flock in the midst of their pasture; They shall make a loud noise because of so many people. (Micah 2:12)
-
The good Shepherd gives abundant life to His sheep.
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. (Isaiah 55:2)
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)
I pray that we will all know the good Shepherd and stick with Him.
Do you know the good Shepherd?
If you dont, you can know Him right HERE.
How I love the good words of Jesus. No wonder Mary would rather sit at the everlasting feet of Him to be divinely taught.
Only Jesus can utter these soul rerejuvenating, and spirit reassuring words of eternal consequence. Hallelujah! Well done, Sister.

The Good Shepherd says in John 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 1:3, one of my favourite verses says, “….and without him was not any thing made that was made” How I love Jesus, our all in all!
