Are Demons Mythological Creatures?
Do you believe that demons are real? or do you believe that they are fairy tales?
If they are real can they harm you? Can fallen angels return to cohabit with humans?
Let us return to the beginning to find the answers.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So, the evening and the morning were the first day. (Genesis 1:1-5)
In the beginning were two spiritual entities – God and the darkness. We are also introduced to the Holy Spirit of God which moved upon the face of the waters.
The light represents Jesus Christ (John 8:12).
The first Chapter in the book of Genesis introduced us to God, His spirit and the light – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are one, and they are good.
The light supersedes and controls the darkness thus allowing the Creator to make a perfect world suitable for humanity.
Chapter two of Genesis introduced us to the creation of man on day six, but in Chapter three, man disobeyed God and sin.
The dragon or serpent utilized the darkness as his source of power and persuaded a third of the angel in heaven to follow in his evil plan to destroy humans on earth. (Revelation 12:4).
They seduced the women on earth into sexual perversion to contaminate the seed of the woman. (Genesis 6:1-3).
According to the book of Enoch which is one of the books that were not included in the Bible, these fallen angels taught men, magic, witchcraft, and sorcery. They introduced men to the evil spiritual world of darkness.
The darkness crept over the land, and it spread throughout the generation of humanity and men began to love darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil (John 3:19).
God mourned when He saw the polluted earth and the corruption of man. There is a limit to what God will tolerate from humans.
And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” (Genesis 6:3)
Note that God said that His spirit could not continue to try with men because we are flesh.
In the Garden of Eden, the man was filled with the Spirit of God because the Lord blew His breath in him and they lived together in the light having perfect relationship.
However, Adam was intrigued with the serpent’s knowledge of evil, and he wanted to partake of it also. So, he did!
Consequently, the earth became disrupted, and the darkness invaded the physical realm of the earth including humans.
The Spirit of God cannot cohabit with the darkness that invaded and corrupted the body, spirit, and soul of men. Thus, God limits the life span of man to 120yrs.
Since the beginning until now the spiritual realm of darkness has invaded the entire earth.
Evidence of the darkness in the lives of humans
The forces of darkness are destructive emotions and attitudes such as:
- Pride and fear( 2 Timothy 1:7)
- Lust, hatred, murder, envy, jealousy (Numbers 5:14, 30)
- Gossiping, anger, strife, sexual immoralities (harlotries) (Hosea 4;12; 5:4)
- Lying (2 Chronicles 18: 18-22)
- Stealing, divination (Acts 16:16-18).
- Sickness, deaf and dumbness are also spirits (Mark 9:25; Luke 9:39; Luke 13:10-11).
They oppose the Holy Spirit of God, which manifest good attitudes and emotions in our heart and mind (Psalms 143:10).
The fruits of the Spirit which are love, joy, patience, long-suffering, goodness, humility (Galatians 5:22-23). These are also classified as the Word of God and are life-giving spirits (Proverbs 15:4).
They can counteract and destroy the bad spirits from the darkness.
Other entities that live in the darkness are Satan and his fallen angels which I will also call demons even though some people might not agree with this definition.
The Bible stated that fallen Babylon had become a dwelling place for demons, foul spirits, prison for every foul spirit, a cage for every unclean and hated bird (Revelation 18:1-3).
The destroyed Babylon is, therefore, a symbolic representation of the darkness. (Jeremiah 50-51 – The fall of Babylon).

The Demons are unclean spirits, but when they are vomited from the mouth of Satan and the beast to prepare for the battle of Armageddon they take on a body which resembles frogs. (Revelation 16:12-16)
Satan arranged his demons into kings, princes, and principalities. He also gave them authority but their power is limited on earth.
In Genesis 6, the fallen angels were able to change their form and became humans so that they could interact with the women.
Animals have a lower classification, and they were subjected to man. So it was possible for Satan possess the body of the serpent.
Furthermore, Adam was given dominion over the beast of the earth, so he had the authority to rebuked and drive out the polluted serpent from the Garden.
Can Satan and his demons still transform themselves into humans?
A resounding no!
They cannot because the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ retrieved the keys or authority over this realm.
Previously, Satan had the keys to the darkness which he used to instigate the war in heaven and to convince some of the angels to join him. He also used the power of darkness to revenge against man.
Jesus Christ took this key, so He controls the darkness and confined the demonic forces in this realm. Satan and his demons cannot reincarnate themselves into human beings to cohabit with us.
In other words, Satan cannot take on a human body to enter into the physical realm as the Antichrist to control the world.
Despite the above facts, the earth is still corrupted with evil and iniquities, which means that Satan and his demons are crossing over into the earthly realm to invade the lives of men.
