Moving from one country to another country or from one house to another house is very stressful especially if you have a lot of stuff.

You are never aware of the amount of stuff that you have until you are moving.

I am currently moving from one apartment to another apartment and it is stressful.

“Why do I have so much stuff?” I asked myself over and over again.

I feel as if I am a slave to stuff.

Jesus said in John 8:34, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.”

When you commit sin you become a slave to sin.

Likewise, when you accumulate a lot of material things you become a slave to things.

So, here I am, currently in bondage because of stuff.

By the grace of God and the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ who died for our sins, I am free from the bondage of sin.

However, I am still under bondage because of material possessions.

Therefore, I have decided that I need to “cast off” and “lay aside” the things that are weighing me down.

I am remined of the Bible verse in Romans 13:12 that states, “The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.”

Hebrews 12:1-2 also states, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, ² looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Note that when I cast off the stuff I need to put on something and when I lay aside all the material possessions I need to run with endurance to someone.

Hence, this is a turning point in my life!

Since my many stuff have become my source of bondage I need to get rid of them.

It doesn’t mean that I will throw away everything that I own, but it means that I need to select only the pieces that are essential for life and that I use daily.

Everything else that takes up space in storage must go.

I need to cast off or let go of material things and put on the armor of resistance.

I must resist the urge to buy more things especially when they are on sale.

I must resist the desire to shop on line and repurpose what I have already own.

I need to lay aside the desire to accumulate material things and run with endurance the race before me by looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of my faith.

Throughout this season of moving, I can see God guiding me and directing my path.

God provided an apartment for me that is larger and more comfortable.

Even though I was okay in my previous apartment, the Lord was not happy with my living condition and so He provided a better one for me.

Even though the present apartment is twice as expensive as the previous one, the Lord promised that He will provide the rent.

I am confident that God placed this season of moving in my life to teach me faith and trust.

The Lord is also teaching me how to relieve myself from the bondage of possessions and how to focus more on the things that matters in life.

One of the most important things in this life is freedom spiritually and physically.

My prayer for all of us is that we live and enjoy the freedom that God has ordain for us.
