It’s a celebration! My Year of Jubilee
Last month I celebrated my fiftieth (50) birthday. However, it came and slipped quietly away. That was not how I had envisioned it. Two years ago the Lord promised me that on my fiftieth birthday I will celebrate a year of jubilee.
Of course, my mind went into overdrive and I immediately thought that I was going to receive something spectacular on my birthday. Perhaps I was going to have a huge birthday splash or maybe a small dinner party at a five-star restaurant with my family and close friends.
For two years, I dreamt about my jubilee birthday and imagined how excited it would be. Alas when my birthday finally arrived on September 8th, it was just an average hard working day at work.
There were no birthday wishes, no cards, no gifts, no dinner party, and no celebration. Absolutely no one except my children knew that it was my birthday. Where was the jubilee celebration that God promised me? I asked myself. I was very disappointed.
A few days later I heard about the sudden death of one of my coworkers. It was only a few months ago one of my professional colleagues in Jamaica suddenly passed away. Now a dear and wonderful doctor at the hospital where I worked died.
We were about the same age, but he was dead and here I was whining about an uneventful birthday while my colleague would never see another birthday. I immediately felt ashamed, and I repented. I realized that life itself is a celebration.
Then I went into the sanctuary of God, and I thanked Him for giving me life and the luxury of seeing another birthday. I was now half of a century, in good health and my soul was prospering. Those are tremendous blessings from God.
In spite of my gratitude, I could not help but reminded the Lord about His promise to me of a jubilee celebration. The following is what the Lord replied to me.
“Bev, Bev, you are worried about minor issues. I did not promise you one day of rejoicing where you will eat and drink and then tomorrow everything will be forgotten. I promised you one entire year of jubilee where you will receive everything that I have promised and showed you in your future. It has already begun so relax and enjoy.”
The Lord promised me the best.
In view of this, I take great pleasure in introducing you to the month of October – A month where we will celebrate and give allegiance to all our jubilees, diamonds and golden age (50 years and over).
My generation should be filled with the spirit of wisdom and knowledge from the Lord to teach our children (the millennial generation) and harvest them into the Kingdom of God.
So I am inviting you to join us on this joyous occasion and let us pay tribute to the mature and elderly adults.
