Grab your Weapons! Get Ready to Fight!

Fight for your family! Fight for you children! Fight for your life! Search for your weapons that are hidden and forgotten in the closet or shed. They have been lying idle, gathering dust. It is now time to shake off the dust and get them ready for battle.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalt itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. (2 Corinthians 10: 3-6)

Attack and defense

Military commanders and generals have formulated many strategies of war throughout history. One of these strategies that I like the most was said by Nathan Bedford Forrest (Mollosia.org):

“Get there first with the most men.”

This plan should be our strategy to use against the enemy. Do no wait for the enemy to attack first, begin to hit him with missiles to send him cowering in defeat. Our weapons are spiritual, and they consist of praying and the word of God.

Praying

Praying is talking to God, telling Him your concerns and desires. You should also show gratitude to God for who He is and not only for the things you receive from Him. Pray with a heart that is humble and sincere.

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:16).

According to the above scripture, only the prayer of a righteous man is profitable. The Bibe states that the righteousness of men is as filthy rags. Therefore, you can only attain righteousness by obedience to the Holy Spirit.

The quality, not the quantity of words in your prayers, is important. Pray earnestly and frequently. You cannot fight a battle unless you know the identity of your enemies.

Therefore, identify the evil spirits that are attacking your marriage, family church, schools, business places and communities. Some of these spirits are fear, pride, anger, jealousy, malice, backbiting. Call these spirits by their name as you drive them out of your life.

After you cast these spirits out you will have an empty vessel to fill with the words of God. Declare His words over your life and family.

These evil spirits are persistent, so you will need to be vigilant. For example, fear disguises itself in many forms such as phobia, panic attacks, witchcraft, accidents, bullying, threats, death, separation, divorce, poverty, the loss of a job and special occasions such as Valentine, Christmas, and Halloween.

If you are experiencing any of these incidents and emotions, immediately rebuke the spirit of fear and drive it out of your life. For many years, the spirit of fear tormented my life. The Lord taught me how to drive it out of my life, but it always returned in a different form. I have to become vigilant and alert.

For God has not given you the spirit of fear but of power, and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

The words of the Lord that opposes the spirit of fear are love, power, and sanity. These are the words that you will need to declare over your life and also to practice them among your brethren.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)

According to the above verse, perfect love will drive out the spirit of fear from your life. True love is God, so when He dwells in your heart, and you express this genuine love to others, it will keep away the spirit of fear. If you are fearful, it is time to show love to others.

Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all sins (Proverb 10: 12).

The above verse does not mean that it is okay to sin because love covers it. No, it means that love can uproot, destroy and block all evil spirits which lead to sin.

Pray the following scripture verses every morning and night to strengthen your love and to walk in the power and victory of God. You can select any single verse or two below to be a prayer unto God.

O God, you are my God; early will I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for you in the sanctuary, to see your power and your glory. (Psalms 63:1-2)

Make (I will make) a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; make His praise glorious. Say (I will say) to God, “How awesome are your works! Through the greatness of your power your enemies shall submit themselves to you. All the earth shall worship you and sing praises to you; they shall sing praise to your name.” (Psalms 66:1-4)

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our (my) heart(s) by the Holy Spirit who was given to us (me) (Romans 5:5).

Who shall separate us (me) from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword? As it is written, for your sake we are (I am) killed all the day long; we are (I am) accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are (I am) more than conquerors through him that loved us (me). For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us (me) from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35-39)

I have the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt me. (Luke 10:18-19).

The grace of God is sufficient for me, for his strength is made perfect in my weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12: 9-10).

Now to him who is able to establish you (me) according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now made manifest, and by the prophetic scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith – to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen (Romans 16: 25-27)

Keep your mind on God

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in You. (Isaiah 26:3)

The above verse states that when your mind is constantly on God- every hour and every day- He will give you peace. I had to release all my secular dreams and desire to keep my mind only on the word of God.

Study your Bible frequently to gain strength. The Holy Spirit helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know how to pray effectively, but the Spirit makes intercession for us with groaning that cannot be uttered. The Lord, who searches the heart, knows the mind of the Spirit because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)

Pray the following scripture verses to fill your mind with God:

Oh, the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor? Or who has first given to Him and it shall be repaid to him?” (Romans 11:34-35). For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we (I) have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16)

Let this mind be in you (me) which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in the appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and become obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, of those on earth, and those under the earth, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2: 5-11)

For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to Him be glory forever. Amen (Romans 11:36)

Note that the mind of Christ is humility, obedience, and love. So when you receive His mind, you will gain a sound mind filled with wisdom and knowledge. When you repeat these powerful words from the bible in your homes or workplace they will eventually change the atmosphere from bad to good.

Destroying the spirit of anger

Another evil spirit from the enemy is uncontrollable anger that will lead to sin. According to the bible, it is possible to be angry and not fall into sin:

Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.  (Ephesians 4: 26-27)

It is important that you control your anger and release it before the end of the day. Otherwise, the devil will take control of you.

The spirits of God, which opposes, anger, are joy and laughter. A good laugh will heal and rejuvenate your body while suppressed anger will lead to stress and illness.

Pray the following scripture verses to release angry spirits:

When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were (I was) like those who dream. Then our (my) mouth was filled with laughter, and our (my) tongue with singing. Then they said (I will say) among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them (me), the Lord has done great things for us (me) and we are (I am) glad (Psalms 126:1-3)

I will not sorrow for the joy of the Lord is my strength (Nehemiah 8:10B)

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh will also rest in hope. For you will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will you allow your Holy One to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalms 16:9-11)

Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and fields yield no food. Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls – yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; he will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on high mountains. (Habakkuk 3:17-19)

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its bud, as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations (Isaiah 61:10-11).

Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only does wondrous things! And blessed be His glorious name forever! And let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and Amen (Psalms 72: 18-19).

These are the pattern of prayer that we all need to exercise to counteract and defeat the strategies of the enemy. Remember also that the more you speak and practice the word of God the healthier you will be both physically and spiritually.
