Wake up! You are under attack!
Wake up from your sleep! Get up from your slumber and complacency! You are under attack!
The enemy has declared war against you! He has surrounded your homes, your children, and your family with thugs who are heavily armed with lethal weapons to steal, kill and destroy. Their deadly weapons are aimed straight at your very heart.
They have already claimed many victims whose dead bodies are in the grave. The enemies have captured many souls to be their prisoners in the bottomless pit. It is full time that you open your eyes to their destructive devices.
Get up! Put on your armored vest and pull out your weapons. Stand up and get ready to defend yourselves and your families. Defeat is not an option. Victory is yours.
Recently I became privy to some real but disturbing problems that have been affecting the marriages of many young people. To my utter amazement, all of those issues were also prevalent within my marriage. I thought that my marital problems were unique to older marriages.
Low self-esteem, lack of trust, poor communication were the leading culprits who destroyed my marriage. All three are followers of the spirit of pride. There are also many other serious issues that are destroying marriages that we are all familiar with, so I will not list them.
Not only marriages are under the attack of the enemy. Children are rebellious and disobedient, but many of them are hurting deeply, and they lack the ability to release their thoughts in words. There are jealousy and backbiting at home and in the workplace.
In the community, there are gossiping, immoralities, murder, suicide, crime, and violence. These are all lethal spirits of the enemy that he is using to do his dirty work. The enemy does not fight fairly. He will use tricks, deception, dishonesty and lies to overcome you.
Anything that opposes good is evil, and they are spirits from the enemy. On the other hand, anything that is good is from God, and they are also spirits. It is also important that you know the identity of your enemy.
Is he that co-worker who recently undermined you on the job? Is he your spouse who is abusive and unfaithful? Is the enemy your children who disgrace you in public?
No, my friend. As much as you would want to believe that they are your enemies, they are not. The people who wronged you are are victims of the enemy just like yourself. The real enemy is using them to destroy you but after he has used them he will also destroy them. The enemy is deceitful and revolting. The enemy is that old serpent who tricked God’s first human creation with his knowledge of evil (Genesis 1-3).
That serpent was once a handsome, rich and powerful angel created by God. His name was Lucifer, and God gave him a prominent position in Heaven. His position was so high and lofty that his heart became filled with pride.
Pride was the first demonstration of evil. He thought in his heart that he wanted to be equal with God. Immediately that thought entered his head; war broke out in heaven, and God threw him and his followers out of heaven (Ezekiel 28).
Lucifer’s shameful defeat bruised his ego, and he declared war on all of God’s creation on Earth to seek vengeance against God. His first victims were Adam and Eve, and he is still lurking and wandering to and fro throughout the earth seeking anyone he can devour.
Satan’s next target could be you. Fortunately, the Lord has equipped us with some heavier artilleries to counteract the enemy’s darts.
Our weapons of mass destruction that we need to use against the enemy are not carnal but mighty through God to destroy his strongholds. Our weapons are the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17).
The words from the Lord are spirits, alive and filled with power. When you speak these word, you will gain life but they will destroy the enemy. How cool is this? However, you need to learn how to use the word of the Lord effectively.
There are two main methods in which to use these weapons. These are communication and respect; and prayer and fasting. Both pairs work together and must never be separated, or the weapons will be useless.
Communication and Respect
Proverbs 15:1 states that a soft answer turns away wrath while a harsh word stirs up anger. We are living in the age of advanced technology, but sadly electronic gadgets have replaced human communication in the homes and the social arena. The lack of communication is a plot of the enemy to destroy marriages and friendship.
You can defeat the enemy by making a determined effort to put away these gadgets when you are together as a family so that you are forced to speak and interact with each other.
Many people are ashamed to talk about the Lord and His goodness, but find it easy to gossip about the neighbors and their brethren. This type of behavior is also a plot of the enemy to destroy us.
When we meet in social settings let us ensure that our conversations consist of the wisdom of God:
These things we also speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (1 Corinthians 2: 13)
As simple as it may appear when you communicate with the wisdom, knowledge and authority of God you can destroy the enemy and put him to shame.
In the past I lack the knowledge and revelation of God and my marriage suffered, and my children were heading down the wrong path. When I became overwhelmed by the pain of separation, I sought the Lord with all my heart and soul, and yes I found Him and He gave me life.
It is not too late for your marriage or your family. Seek the Lord and enter the sanctuary of God and He will shield and protect you.
But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth, He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth and with the breadth of His lips He shall slay the wicked. (Isaiah 11:4)
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
Do not underestimate the power of the word of God!

Thank you for depositing your wisdom in such a profound way. The enemy is real and unlike what we were taught growing up that he had on red suit, had horns and a pitch fork in his hands, he is as real as the person standing next to you and I. We’ve got to be vigilant and watchful and put on the whole armor of God to be able to withstand against the evil plots and schemes of the Devil.
Great post!

It is really funny when we recalled how we use to view the enemy. In those days we lack knowledge but God is raising up humble people such as you and I to teach knowledge to this generation. Thank you for sharing.

Great stuff Bev. We really need to learn to practically walk in the word of God so we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. By this our communication will be seasoned with grace and graceful words that will not cause offense and stir up wrath in those we may have disagreements etc with. The word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our paths. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but spiritual and mighty through God to pull down strongholds. If we could just practice what we read and know life would be so much better. Bless you.
