Can God…?

What can God do for you today?

Can God prepare a table in the wilderness for you?

During the Israelites forty years sojourn in the wilderness, the Lord provided food and meat in the wilderness.

When they were thirsty He made water poured out from the rock (Psalms 78:14-20; Deuteronomy 8:15)

Yes, God can!

Can God prepare a table for you in the presence of your enemies?

When your ways please the Lord even your enemies will be at peace with you (Proverbs 16:7).

The psalmist, David, had many enemies even in his household, but he testified that God prepared a table before him in the presence of his enemies.

Can God provide food for you in the midst of famine?

Elijah declared that there will be famine in the land of Israel for three years.

During that time the Lord commanded the ravens to feed Elijah by the Brook Cherith where he received fresh water.

But, when the brook dried up the Lord commanded a widow at Zarephath to feed Elijah.

Often times we missed the fact that before the widow met Elijah at the gate of the city she had already known that she was supposed to feed the prophet of God.

Thus, the conversation that followed after they met were a test of confirmation. Both Elijah and the woman received a command from God, but they did not know each other.

Therefore, when Elijah saw the woman gathering stick he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.”

The woman immediately knew this was the man that God commanded her to feed.

She did not know how this was possible, but she believed God and paused from her work to get the drink for the elderly man.

But, Elijah needed even more proof of her faith in God, “and as she was going to get (the water) it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”” (1 Kings 17:11).

The woman abruptly stopped in her tract and said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

Getting a little water for a tired and thirsty old man was an easy thing to do, but giving him food from a cupboard that was empty seemed like an impossible task.

But, God can do even the impossible!

Elijah recognized that the widow struggled with doubt and so he decided to set her mind at ease with confirmation of God’s Word to her.

And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son.  For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ”( 1 Kings 17:13-14 NKJV)

Thus, the woman went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days.  The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.” (1 Kings 17:15-16 NKJV)

Yes, God can!

Can God fight your battle?

The last night after the deadly plague struck the Egyptians, the Israelites led by Moses fled the land of Egypt into the wilderness.

However, Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and he rallied his army and pursued the Israelites. They caught up with them at the Red Sea.

The people were trapped and terrified. They complained against Moses.

God told Moses to stretch out his rod across the sea and command the people to go forward.

The people move forward on dry land flanked between the two towering sea walls to the other side of the river while pharaoh’s army was blocked by the cloud of darkness.

When all the people were safely across on the other side of the river, the water returned to its original position and swallowed up the pursuing army.

Yes, God can fight your battle!

When King Jehoshaphat of Judah heard about the vast army that was marching against them, he immediately summoned the entire population into a time of prayer and fasting.

The Lord heard their cry for help and spoke through Jahaziel, a member of the congregation.

The following day, the king led the people into a time of worship and thanksgiving as they marched to meet the enemy.

As their voice rang out in praise, the Lord set an ambush against the enemy and they were destroyed (2 Chronicles 20)

Yes, God can and definitely will fight your battle.

You only need to stand still!

Is there anything that God cannot do?

Is anything too hard for the Lord?

God asked Abraham this question when his wife laughed at the promise that she would conceive in her old age way past her child bearing age.

Did God made it happen?

Yes, He did! Sarah gave birth to a normal healthy baby boy at ninety years old. You can read about it in Genesis 17-19.

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” (Jeremiah 32:27 NKJV)

Have you not known?
Have you not heard?

The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,

But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV)
