What If The Church Would Pray As Daniel Prayed? (Part Two)
Daniel had a consistent prayer life by praying three times per day.
Daniel’s prayers were not repetitious jargons, but prayers that pertain to his personal life, prayers for his friends and families and above all prayers concerning the wellbeing of the Jews.
As a result of such a strict prayer life, Daniel received many miracles from God.
Part one gives detail of these divine wonders in Daniel’s life. If you missed it you can catch up here.
Daniel continued to prosper during the reign of Darius – the Mede, and Cyrus the Persian king (Daniel 6:28).
Daniels’ prophetic dreams and visions of the future
As a result of Daniels dedication to God, he received in depth prophetic dreams and visions about the future.

- In chapter 7, Daniel dreamt about the four kingdoms that would rule over the Jews (Daniel 7). These kingdoms were Babylon, Mede and Persia, Greece and Rome, which evolved in to the final kingdom that is presently ruling the entire world.
- In chapter 8, Daniel dreamt about the overthrow of Babylon by the Medes and Persians, and then the conquering of the Medes and Persians by Greece who was depicted as the male goat with the long horn.
Daniel saw visions of the Greek empire that broke in four different kingdoms. Then a fierce and mighty ruler arose from these kingdoms. He would kill and persecute the holy people but would eventually be broken by God.
Gabriel, the angel from God, interpreted the vision to Daniel, but the vision of the Shaggy goat was twofold. Although it referred to a literal king that would rise up from Greece and cause devastation to the people of God, it also referred to Satan who is operating in the heart of this king.
Satan, who is the master of deception, attacked the heavenly armies and managed to overthrow some of the heavenly beings and trampled them.
He even declared war with the commander of heaven’s army by canceling the daily sacrifices and destroying the Temple of God (Daniel 8:10-11). He was allowed to continue his rebellion for a season.
The angel Gabriel interpreted the vision to Daniel but told him that it would not be fulfilled until a long time in the future.

- In chapter nine (9) we see Daniel praying for the Jewish kingdom. He could not understand why the Jews were still under captivity even though the prophecy by Jeremiah of the seventy years of Jerusalem’s desolation was accomplished.
Daniel prayed earnestly confessing the sins of their forefathers and beseeching the Lord to forgive them and restore their kingdom.
“Now while I (Daniel) was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God, yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering.” (Daniel 9:20-21 NKJV)
Gabriel told Daniel that, “Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.” (Daniel 9:24 NKJV)
Essentially, he tried to explain to Daniel that after a particular period of time the Messiah would come to make reconciliation for the sins of not only the Jewish people but the entire world.
- In chapter 10, after three weeks of fasting and praying, Daniel had vision of the glorious man who was “clothed in linen, whose waist was girded with gold of Uphaz! His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet like burnished bronze in color, and the sound of his words like the voice of a multitude.” (Daniel 10:5-6NKJV). I believe that this man was the Son of God.

In this vision the glorious man gave Daniel detailed explanation about the kingdom of Greece and the wars that transpired between the kings of the north and south, which is detailed in Daniel chapter 11.
History revealed that the “dynasties of the Seleucids (northern king) and the Ptolemies (Southern king) fought for some 130 years. The stronger of the two always held dominion over the Holy Land.” They took over the reign of Greece after alexander the Great. (Enduringword.com)
History revealed that the prophecies in chapter ten and eleven occurred exactly as they were foretold to Daniel.
- Finally, in chapter 12, the glorious Son of God gave Daniel visions of the end of this world when the Lord would return to deliver His people from the final kingdom.
- However, Daniel was still perplexed because he recognized that the fulfillment of the vision would not occur until a very long time in the latter days.
However, the glorious man told Daniel to seal the vision until the end of time. He also encouraged Daniel to continue to live his life until death. Then would rise again to receive his inheritance at the end of days (Daniel 12:13)
Daniel had a long and fulfilled life! Even though he could not understand many of his dreams and visions he trusted the Almighty God.

Because Daniel faithfulness and dedicated prayer life, he became “God’s greatly beloved” (Daniel 9:23; 10:11). Consequently, throughout his entire life, he attracted supernatural blessings from God.
Persistent prayer life avails much
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. (James 5:16 NLT)
Thus, it is evident, based on Daniel’s life that having a committed prayer life will attract supernatural miracles in your life.
You will receive the gifts of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God.
As a result of having a dedicated prayer life, you will have divine dreams, visions and discernment.
As a result of having a dedicated prayer life, you will be delivered from the plots of the enemy and you will prosper in everything that you do.
Based on the evidences in the entire book of Daniel of having a committed and consistent prayer life, let us once more re-visit the question.
What if the Church would pray as Daniel prayed?
What if?
What would happen?”
What if the Church prays sincerely three times per day as Daniel did?
What if the Church pause from their daily activities three times per day at the same time to whisper a word of prayer for the healing of the land, for families, the unsaved, the persecuted, the poor and needy, the oppressed, the sick, the termination of the enemy’s plots and to pray for each other?
What if the Church would record their prayers and release them in the airways at the same time three times per day?
What if the Church would pray as Daniel prayed?
What if?

The commission
The Lord has impressed upon my heart to pray three times every day at 6am, 12 pm and 6pm.
I set the times on my phone and as soon as I hear the alarm, I whisper a simple prayer to God. If I am in a position to pray deeper at that time I do so.
If I am still sleepy or I am busy on the job or driving, I whisper the prayer aloud or in my heart.
I am encouraging anyone who wishes to join me in praying as Daniel prayed.
The Lord is not concern about long eloquent words because He sees only your sincere heart and will answer accordingly.
I believe with all my heart that if we continuously pray as Daniel prayed we will see supernatural manifestations in our lives similar to Daniel.
Imagine what will happen if the Church would pray as Daniel prayed!
You Prayer can be as simple as the following prayer
Heavenly Father, please watch over my life, my family, friends and the church brethren.
Heal our bodies, save our souls, protect us and deliver us from the plots of the enemy.
Lord, grant us strength and wisdom. I thank you and praise you O my God. In Jesus name Amen!
Will you join me in praying like Daniel?

Awesome post, Beverly. I can only imagine the power, the miracles, and the authority we would have, if we prayed like Daniel. Thank you for giving us something to reach for.

Amen to this. The Lord recently instructed me to start taking time to read/pray in the morning and meditate and pray before diving into lunchtime during the day. I can add the evening. Thank you for this encouragement to be more intentional about prayer.
I heard a prophecy recently, urging the church to repent and stop following the world’s systems.

So true, the church needs to stop conforming to the world. We need to focus more on serious prayer and not the usual stuff. Thanks for sharing

Love this post Beverley. I truly wish I could pray like Daniel. I struggle often, my prayer time is inconsistent, and I battle fear when praying out loud. I worry I’ll sound foolish or not “spiritual enough.” But your post gives me hope. I want to grow in this. Thank you for the encouragement.
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing. 🙏
