Church Attenders (Part two)

1–2 minutes

Why do Christians go to church?

The most popular answer to the above question is to worship and praise God.

The Bible encourages us to “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)

Based on the signs of the time, it is evident that the Day of the Lord is approaching and so it is imperative that the believers meet together to worship and encourage each other.

However, be mindful that people go to church for various reasons.

Based on the Bible, the following are the groups of people that attends church.

The Pharisees – Highly religious and never missed a service. They “cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence” (Matthew 23:25)

The rich folks – They throw large offering and tithes. They know the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and and are involved in many community activities. (Matthew 19:21-22; Mark 12:41-42)

The Marathon Scribes – They love to pray long winding and repetitious prayers. They love the best seats (usually the front row or pulpit) in the church and on special occasions such as conventions. (Luke 20:47)

The Davids – They are just happy to be in the house of the Lord to worship and praise Him (Psalms 122:1).
