International Day of Prayer

Today is designated as International Day of Prayer, and so in observance let us us humble ourselves and pray sincerely to God to heal our land.

The World Day of Prayer is an international Christian women’s initiative which began in the US in 1887 when Mary Ellen Fairchild James, wife of Darwin Rush James from Brooklyn, New York, called for a day of prayer for home mission. It was designated for the first Friday in March and has spread to over 170 countries. (Wikipedia.org)

The National Day of Prayer began in 1952 on the first Thursday in May when the United States Congress asked that people turned to God in prayer and meditation. Since then every President is required by law to sign a proclamation each year to encourage all Americans to pray on this day. (Wikipedia.org)

The entire world is going through some kind of crisis and challenges.

Many countries such as India are still battling with the coronavirus pandemic. St Vincent is facing a ferocious giant that have the people under siege.

There are diverse earthquakes all over the world such as in Japan. Multiple tragedies are occurring worldwide with one recently in Mexico.

Many other countries all over the world are facing humanitarian crisis. The list is endless and so it is imperative that we all pray for each other and the entire world as a whole.

Therefore, I would like to release Daniel’s prayer over our nations.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Corinthians 7:14 NKJV)

Jeremiah prophesied that the land of Judah would remain desolate for seventy years, after which the Lord would revisit Jerusalem and restore His people.

The land became desolate after it was overrun by the Babylonians who captured the territory, burnt the temple and city, demolished the wall and took the healthy and strong people back to Babylon as captives.

The elderly and feeble people who remained fled in fear to Egypt (2 Kings 24-25).

The entire land of Judah remained in ruins for seventy years. No one passed through no one returned (Zechariah 7:14). In spite of this, the land was at rest for the entire time (Leviticus 26:34-35).

After the appointed time had passed, Daniel began to fast and pray for the restoration of his home.

In our present time, there is a spiritual desolation on the land, and it needs to be healed.

As long as it lies desolate it shall rest— for the time it did not rest on your Sabbaths when you dwelt in it. (Leviticus 26:35)

Reasons for desolation on our land

The enemy sows bad seeds among the good which is choking the new growth (Matthew 14:24-30).

Satan spread deception among the believers (Revelation 12:9).

Satan is stealing, killing and destroying (John 10:10).

There is disunity in the church (1 Corinthians 1:10-13).

The enemy spread wars, strife, pestilences and troubles in the world (Matthew 24:6; James 4:1; Luke 21:7-12).

The enemy has unleashed deadly diseases and pestilences all over the world.

Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven and swore by Him who lives forever, that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time (Daniel 12:7)

The length of this desolation in our world

The Lord designated seventy years for the desolation of Judah then He promised to return and restore them to their homeland.

In our era, the Lord has also appointed a particular time, but it is based on His timespan. Daniel and John prophesied it to be time, times and half a time (Daniel 7:25; 12:7; Revelation 12:14).

After this time (God’s time) is completed, the Lord Jesus Christ will return to rescue His people, judge the unrighteous and destroy the enemy.

While we are waiting for the return of Christ, let us humble ourselves and pray Daniel’s prayer to bring deliverance and healing to our land.

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me (Psalms 50:15)

Let us pray

O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments.

Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes (our leaders and presidents), to our fathers and all the people of the land. 

O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day—to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel (name of your Country), those near and those far off in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of the unfaithfulness which they have committed against You.

O Lord, to us, belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, because we have sinned against You.

To the Lord, our God belongs mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him. We have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets.

Yes, all Israel (name of your country) has transgressed Your law, and has departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore the curse and the oath written in the Law of Moses the servant of God have been poured out on us because we have sinned against Him.

O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem (call the name of your country), Your holy mountain; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem (call the name of your country) and Your people are a reproach to all those around us. 

Now, therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant and his supplications, and for the Lord’s sake cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary, which is desolate.

O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies.

O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”  Amen. (Daniel 9:4-11; 15-19 NKJV)

We continue to pray

Our almighty and everlasting Father, we continue to call upon your mercy and your grace. Even though we are undeserving we can present our needs through your precious Son, Yᵉhôwshûwa, Mâshîyach – the anointed Messiah.

Have mercy upon your people who are in desperate need. Your people needs healing, deliverance, help and salvation.

So today, Lord, the world come together as one voice to offer up our petition to you because we know that it is not your desire that any of your people perish but that we are saved and have eternal life.

So, as we lift our voices in prayer and praise to you, draw all men unto you and save our souls.

We bless and thank you, O God, for answering our prayers.

In name of your our Lord and Saviour, Yᵉhôwshûwa – Jehovah is salvation.

AMEN!

Thus says the Lord: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you; I will preserve you and give you as a covenant to the people, to restore the earth, to cause them to inherit the desolate heritages (Isaiah 49:8)

The Lord replies

As soon as Daniel finished praying, the Lord sent Gabriel to give him the answer to his prayer (Daniel 9:24-27).

“Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.” (Daniel 9:24 NKJV)

Gabriel prophetic message was fulfilled with the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, but the prophetic Word of God also extends to our time.

The Lord has therefore appointed seventy weeks (time, times and half a time) for the duration of the desolation on our land. How do you calculate this time? It is beyond my ability.

But, I know for certain that after the fulfillment of this period Christ will return to ultimately end sin, to bring everlasting righteousness, to fulfill the visions and prophetic revelations and to anoint the Lord Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords (Daniel 9:24).

In the meantime let us watch and pray while keeping on the full armor of God.

We can rest assured with hope knowing that God will not allow the enemy to destroy the entire earth and He will not forsake His people for His great name sake.
