Popular Bible Verses That Are Often Overlooked.

3–5 minutes

How often do we repeat a Bible verse but have never actually looked at the actual significance of the words?

Let us take a closer look at a few examples of these verses.

I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears. (Psalms 34:1-4)

Note the strong verbs, adverbs and phrases in the above scripture: “all times” ; “continually” ; “boast” “exalt” “Sought”

Yes, we will praise the Lord, but are we praising Him continually meaning habitually, without cessation or intermission? Thus, when we quote this verse, know that we are telling the Lord we will always praise Him without taking a break.

It means that wherever we are and whatever we are doing, our hearts and mind will be on the Lord to magnify and praise Him.

As such, we will join the Holy Angels around the throne of God who continually cried praises to the most High God, “Holy! Holy! Lord God Almighty who was and is to come.”

Praise the Lord!

We need to brag about the Lord! Boast about His goodness, His faithfulness and His everlasting mercy to the children of men.

We need to be “braggadocio” about our great God. Yes, that is a word but we can rest assured that our bragging is not empty but is filled with the goodness of a loving and deserving God.

Therefore, we all must purposefully unite in a never ending praise and worship to our God so that when we seek Him for anything He will answer us speedily. The Lord will deliver us from fears. He will heal and restore us and He will give us full protection and blessings.

One thing have I desired of the Lord that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me. He shall set me high upon a rock. (Psalms 27:4-5)

We love to quote the above verse but most times we overlooked the words “dwell” and “all the days of our lives”

How many of us are willing like Samuel to spend our entire life living in the temple of God?

How many women who have lost their husbands have decided not to remarry but to remain a widow like Anna and spend the rest of their life in the temple serving the Lord in fasting and prayer night and day for the manifestation of the sons of God upon this earth? (See Luke 2:36-38)

When we think seriously about the ramification of these drastic decisions very few people will make them.

But, this is what the above verse said that we ought to desire and seek after.

We must want to live in the sanctuary of the Lord for the entire duration of our lives where we will behold the beauty and majesty of our God.

When troubles appear at our doorsteps they will not find us in our homes because we will be in the secret place of God’s tabernacle where He is hiding us upon the rock of Jesus Christ.

What a blessing!

May we endeavor to be like Mary who chose the good part to sit at the feet of Jesus and not be distracted by the things of this world. (See Luke 10: 38-42)

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath  forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:32)

We need to forgive each other for Christ’s sake. We should all forgive each other because of the blood of Jesus Christ who forgave your sins and cleansed us from all unrighteousness.

If we cannot love our fellow human beings who we can see then we cannot say we love God who we cannot see with our physical eyes.

Similarly, if we cannot forgive our brethren who sin against us then we cannot expect the Lord the forgive us of our sins.

But, the Lord died for the sins of humanity and so He will forgive you when you repent with a sincere heart.

However, an unforgiving heart – one that is filled with anger and bitterness is not truthful so the Lord will not respond to such a heart.

I pray that we will all endeavor to speak and practice the Word of God with a sincere heart.

Great subject matter to bring up and ponder, Beverley. So when we are reading His Word, outloud or to ourselves, they have their purpose for each and every one of us according to how God has purposed it to be. All of Gods Words do not return void. (Isaiah 55:11)
What’s interesting besides all the points you made above, I recently received a book titled “101 Important Words of the Bible & The Unforgettable Story They Tell”. I haven’t started it yet, but your blog peaked my interest to do so. Thanks so much for sharing. Much love in the Lord to you during Holy Week. 🕊❤
