The healing of the nations depends on the removal of the masks.
Last Tuesday night my church had Bible study on zoom. The lesson was taken from Philippians 2:1-11 and the topic was focus on pride.
The lesson taught us that as Christians we need to have the mind of Christ which is humility and obedience.
While I was meditating on the Word, the Lord placed in my spirit that pride is like a mask.
The dictionary definition of a mask is a covering for all or part of the face, worn to conceal one’s identity.
Immediately my attention was focussed on what is currently happening in our world.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it becomes mandatory in most countries that we all wear a face mask or shield to avoid becoming contaminated by this disease.
The mask is to prevent the droplets that spewed from your mouth transmitting to anyone close to you.
The mask is also to protect the wearer from becoming contaminated by the droplets from another person.
We are required to wear a face mask when we enter any public places such as business places, supermarkets, and other shopping centers, hospitals and medical facilities, public transportations.
We even have to wear our face masks inside the church buildings.
When I looked around at our masked society I realized how ridiculous we all look.
It seems as if we have become fugitives trying to conceal our identity to hide from the law.
It is quite interesting that masks have been worn since ancient times for religious rituals and ceremonies.
Masks have also been worn in the performing arts to portray different characters.
The world has thus become a huge stage and all of us are performers.
This makes me even more convinced that this pandemic is a warning to the Church.
Remove the mask of pride
The Lord is saying to the Church that we need to remove the mask of pride.
We have been wearing a spiritual mask to hide our hearts.
We do not want anyone to see that we are hurting and we need help.
We have been wearing a mask to avoid seeking help when we need it.
We even wear a mask when we come before the Lord in prayer.
We are not surrendering our all to Him at the altar of sacrifice.
We are hiding from God while trying to cover our nakedness with conspicuous masks.
We wear the mask to keep our secrets inside to prevent us from speaking to someone about the hurt that is tearing us apart.
Take off the mask!
The Bible states that we need to confess our faults one to another and pray for each other so that we can be healed. (See James 5:16)
Part of our healing both physically and spiritually has to do with us admitting and confessing that we have a problem so that we can get help.
Therefore, let us ensure that we remove the mask of pride that is preventing us from being healed and blocking our breakthrough and deliverance.
The Lord is saying to us that when the Church removes the mask of pride, humble ourselves, pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways then He, God Almighty, will hear from heaven and heal our land. (See 2 Chronicles 7:14)
Then and only then our land will be healed from these dreadful diseases and we will no longer need to wear these theatrical masks.
Remove the mask of pride!
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you (1 Peter 5:6)
I pray that we will become broken before God so that He can put the broken pieces back together again.
I pray that we will be truthful and opened before God so that we can receive all the blessings that He has in store for us.
