  1. Excellent post Beverley! Jesus is the name that saves. I thought about Isaiah 43:1, …Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine…

God knows each of our names. We never go unnoticed with Him. I love what you mentioned here about persevering in prayer…

“Sometimes you have to persevere on your knees until God changes your name to the destiny He had in store for you.” Regardless of our past, God will use us for His glory if we press in to Him.

    1. Amen. Well said, Dawn. You give us an excellent summary to the post. Thank God, He knows and called our names from before the foundation of the earth. No doubt we are blessed. Like Jabez, if we are saddled with a foolish name we can pray that God will bless us with a new name and enlarge our territories. Praise the Lord! Thank you for sharing, it is a blessing to me.

  3. When God changes a name, it indicates something new has happened or will happen. We see this even in the natural when a wife takes on the last name of her new husband. It represents a change in her life, both before the eyes of God and people.

My favorite name change in the scriptures is Peter. His original name is Simon which means “God has heard” in Hebrew. Peter means rock. Jesus changed his name by telling him you are Peter (Petras) which means little rock and he told him upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

    1. Amen. God heard his prayers and sealed him with a new name that paved his destiny. I also love what you said about the wife changing her name to her husband’s. It also indicates that she is under the covering of her husband. Thank you, Kim for your input. It is well received and I am blessed.

  4. What’s in a name. Is a cliche and a common saying in my place, but I grow up to find out everything is in a name. There are names you will answer it will surely bring hard luck on your way. Actually some names can repel people out from you. While some names may bring lots of blessings to you and friendship. We should be wary of answering some kindof names or naming our children names that are suggestive as to bad influence. On Feb 15, 2020 9:01 PM, “Becoming the Oil and the Wine” wrote:

  6. “John” means “Yah has been gracious” or “graced by Yehovah”, while “Michael” means “Who is like God?”, so meaning-wise, my name John-Michael is a good one.

  7. Where does the Bible say that Eve was barren between Cain/Able & Seth?

    1. The bible did not state that Eve was barren, but she did not give birth to any other children until she had Seth. I use the word barren to mean she did not produce any more children until her husband was 130 years old. (Genesis 5:3). We do not know how many years after the death of Able that she had Seth because the bible did not state. But based on the context it must have been quite a while.

      2. It is the word barren that is used. Perhaps I should not have used such a strong word. I think I will change it.
