The greatest gift that you can give to anyone is love.
But, not just any kind of love. Only the perfect love.
Perfect love is God and without Him, you cannot attain this type of love.
God established an example of perfect love when He sent His Son to die for all of our sins.
The Son of God was born in humble circumstances, and He devoted His entire life serving others.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:16-17KJV)
The characteristics of perfect love
Perfect love never fails.
Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. (1 Corinthians 13:8-10NKJV)
Perfect love endures all things.
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; (1 Corinthians 13:4-5NKJV)
Perfect love is unconditional
Love does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13: 6-7NKJV)
Perfect love is profitable.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love it profits me nothing (1 Corinthians 13:3NKJV)
Perfect love is the language of God.
It is estimated that approximately 7,000 languages are spoken in the world and less than 100,000 people can speak 90% of these languages.
It is impossible for one person to speak every language.
But, God understands all the languages of man because He speaks the language of love.
I pray that we will all speak the perfect language of love.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1).
