In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to me walking on top of the sea.

At first, I was terrified thinking it was the ghost of the deep dark ocean.

But then I saw His glowing face illuminating the night sky and I knew it was my Savior.

He touched my arm and said,

“My child you do not need to fear for where I trod no one dares to rise.

I trod upon the sea because all your sins are cast below the depths of the sea.

I trod upon the sea for beneath in the deep dark abyss, the enemy of your soul lurks.

I walked upon the water to bring peace to your tormented mind.

I walked upon the tempest sea and the waves ceased to roar.

I walked upon the sea to bring good news to you.

I walked so you can be free – free from pain, free from diseases.

I walked to deliver you from every weapon that formed against you.

I walked to bring love and comfort to your aching heart.

I walked so that you can live an abundant life.

I walked upon the sea so that you can walk on dry land in the midst of the sea.”

At the fourth watch of the night, my Savior showed up to answer my prayers.

Your prayers will be answered when you get down on your knees on the fourth watch of the night.

“And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and he shall be my people.” (Leviticus 26:12)

The beheading of John the Baptiste by Herod the tetrarch was one of the most vicious attacks of the kingdom of darkness against the kingdom of God/Heaven. (See Matthew 14)

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. (Matthew 11:12)

However, Jesus did not sit idly by while Satan tried to devour the kingdom of God. Instead, Jesus used one powerful weapon to forcefully take back the kingdom of heaven.

This powerful weapon was prayer!

And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, He was there alone. (Matthew 14:23)

Jesus knelt on the rugged ground on the mountain top and prayed through the first watch, the second watch and the third watch of the night.

During the reign of the Roman empire, the Jews adopted their four nights watches. The watch represented a period of time when the sentinels or soldiers remained on duty. (Biblehub.com)

First watch – 6pm to 9pm; Second watch – 9pm to 12am; Third watch – 12am to 3am; Fourth watch – 3am to 6am.

Then, something extraordinary happened in the fourth watch.

And in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. (Matthew 14:25)

In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus walked on the raging sea in victory. He took control of the kingdom of heaven and placed the enemy under His feet.

And hath put all things under His feet and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all. (Ephesians 1:22-23)

Jesus walked in victory for His Church. Therefore, when you get up to pray on the fourth watch of the night you are claiming the victory that Christ obtained for you.

Similar to Peter, you may try to walk with Jesus on top of the sea, but if the boisterous wind around you make you fearful and you begin to sink just cry out to Jesus,

“Lord, save me!”

Immediately, Jesus will stretch forth His hand and catch you and the wind will cease.
