Your worth is dependent on the value you placed on yourself.

Your value is not dependent on another human being.

Judas felt that Jesus was only worth thirty pieces of silver. On the other hand, Jesus felt that you are worth dying for.

Therefore, your life is far more valuable to God than anything of anyone else in this world.

Yesterday I read a post on the blog, “Into the Foolishness Of God.

The writer mentioned in the article that a well known Christian songwriter recently announced on Instagram his decision to leave the faith.

I clicked on the link and read his announcement, which further linked to another famous person who made his grand announcement that he has also lost his faith.

I won’t give you the links to these announcements since you will find them in the post – The Heat Is On.  Please read it.

I realized that the more links that I clicked on, the deeper I was getting into announcements of Christians giving up their faith, church scandals, etc, etc.

The more I read the more depressed I became. Then I decided to just stop reading.

It is indeed heart wrenching when you hear of Christians throwing in the towel and proudly announced their decisions to the world.

If the angels in heaven rejoice when one sinner is saved then I believe they mourn when one Christian lost their faith.

This begged the question: is their crying in heaven?

What do you think will happen to a Christian who cuts off himself from the vine?

I wrote a post about the strength of the branches and the advantages of being connected to the vine.

My fellow blogger, Deandra, also wrote a post about the importance of remaining on the vine because God is more than able to keep you.

Jesus told us in John 15 that if we do not abide in the vine we will not bear fruit. This is the fruit of the Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22)

The life-giving nutrients – the Word – of the vine will purify us when we abide in the vine.

A tree that produces fruit is valuable. As a matter of fact, the value of your land increases when you have fruit-bearing trees on it more than if you only have shrubs, bushes, thistles, and thorns.

When the land needs to be cleared for development, which trees will the farmer remove?

Of course, he will remove the nonbearing trees because they are of no value to him.

When you remain attached to the vine you will bear fruit and you will be valuable to God.

You will be more valuable than the sparrows and the grass in the field. Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (See Matthew 10: 29-31).

When a branch cuts itself off the vine it can no longer bear fruits and it lost its value.

The branch might appear fresh and green for a while, but then it will eventually wither and die.

Every Christian that gave up their faith in God becomes valuable to Satan and he will let them thrive for a while but eventually, he will move on to some other victim and leave that branch to wither and die.

Never forget that Satan is the father of all lies and he is a physician of no value.

When you make a full commitment to God, the enemy (Satan) becomes angry and increases his attack on you.

You will be persecuted and hard-pressed on every side, but thanks be to God, you will not be cast down or forsaken because you are attached to the vine.

The wind may rage, but it cannot rip you apart when you are attached to the vine.

Yes, in the physical world, a powerful storm such as Irma will tear down trees and building as it did to the British Virgin Islands, September 6, 2017.

Road Town, BVI immediately after Irma and one year later

But, in the spiritual realm, there is no storm that is strong enough to tear you off the vine.

Keep holding on to the vine my brothers and sisters because you are valuable to God.

I am as valuable as Jacob, a worm! But God tells me not to fear because He loves me anyway. I might have no value in and of myself, but Christ is a priceless treasure and God has hidden my life in Him. But I am only an unworthy servant, when I serve God, I’m only doing my duty. Christ is the One who is worthy, not me!

  2. What a contrast. Judas did not see how valuable Jesus is before Jesus gave his life for us because of how much he values us 🙂

    1. Amen. Our value to God is not measured in money. Man tends to measure God’s value in money. Hence, many churches focus on the amount of tithes and offering to receive blessings.

  3. Beverly, I read your intense conviction in every line – I love that! We indeed have value because Christ gave His blood for us. Even David was astounded pre-crucifixion when he said “what is man that thou are mindful of him?” Sadly, many of us don’t recognize or realize the value we have in Christ. Apart from Him, that’s a whole different story but in Him, oh Beverly, in Him we are considered heirs, princes and yes ladies, princesses too. Let us keep connected to our Vine who is able to help us to both bear fruit and maintain our value. I like the analogy about how homes with fruit trees have more value too. Blessings to you, sis. 🙏🏽

    1. I believe when we lose focus on our value to God that is when we tend to give up. When we look around at all the evil thst is happening in the world you have to conciously make a choice of remaining on the vine or give up. I pray that we all will remain on the vine.

Fame and fortune will fade away. Who remembers the famous from 20, 40 or 60 years ago? We will all be held accountable for how we used what God gave us. It’s easy to get discouraged when I see what is going on in the world around me, but I keep my hope in the Lord God. His hope does not fade. His promises remain true. He is victorious! Praise God.

  6. Why would any child of God decide to leave the saving faith?

Most definitely, he is a one who never really believed in the words of the prayer he said to be born again. God’s glorious words mean nothing to him.

Angels do not mourn. How do I know this? It says, “…in thy presence is fulness of joy;” (Psalm 16:11). It also teaches in Jude 1:24, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,” They, like Cerinthus, must leave the Church: for they do not belong to the precious BODY of CHRIST. Keep doing this great work Beverley.

    1. Indeed God is able to keep us from falling. We just have to put our complete trust in Him. Thank you for sharing.

  7. Did these men truely have The Holy Spirit in their heart? One cannot really walk away from Christ, is my opinion, for the Holy Spirit says NOTHING can separate us from Him not even our actions.
