In 2015, when I celebrated my fiftieth birthday, the Lord told me to walk into my Jubilee and enter my Promised Land.
The Lord meant that it was now time for me to walk in my destiny.
The Lord also told me that there were nations/giants in the land. Although they were mighty and stronger than me, He will go before me as a consuming fire to destroy the giants.
I obeyed the Lord and entered into my destiny.
However, it has been over three years and I feel as if I am still battling the giants in the land.
I am still struggling financially, and every now and then, the devil tries to throw me back into the wilderness.
So I decided to ask the Lord what is happening because I cannot understand why I am still struggling and I have been obedient to Him in everything that He told me to do.
The Lord directed me to Deuteronomy 7
When the Lord your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you. (Deuteronomy 7:1)
The Lord told me that there were seven nations that I must cast out of the promised land before I could finally see all the manifestations of the blessings of the land.
These seven nations are greater and stronger than myself and I have to learn how to overcome them.
Thus, I decided to research the meaning of the names of these nations to see the spiritual implications.
After studying theses names, I realized that there are some stuff in my life that I must put in subjection to God.
The revelations of the meaning of the names were astounding, to say the least.
The Hittites – Chittiy (Strong Hebrew/Greek concordance H2850) were the descendant of Heth – the second son of Canaan. They once inhabited Anatolia now modern-day Turkey and later north Lebanon.
Heth is from the root word cheth (Strong H2845), which means fear or terror.
The Girgashites – Girgashiy (Strong H1622) – dwelling on clayey soil. They were descendants of Canaan who lived east of the sea of Galilee.
The Amorites – Emoriy (Strong H567) meaning “a sayer.” They dwelled east of Canaan and beyond the Jordan.
It is from the Hebrew root word amar (Strong H559) meaning to say, speak utter, to say in one’s heart, to boast and to act proudly.
The Canaanites – Kenaaniy (Strong H3669) meaning Zealous (fiercely partisan); the descendant of Canaan; a merchant or trader.
Kenaaniy is from the Hebrew root word Kenaan (Strong H3667) meaning lowland. The 4th son of Ham and the progenitor of the Phoenicians and of the various nations who peopled the seacoast of Palestine.
The Perizzites – Perizziy (Strong H6522) meaning belonging to a village. They were the people who inhabited southern Canaan.
Perizziy is from the root word peraziy (Strong H6521) meaning villager, rural dweller, hamlet-dweller, open region. It means one dwelling in the country. (Could this symbolized small-mindedness?)
The Hivites – Chivviy – (strong H2340) meaning villagers or belonging to a village.
They were the 6th generation of descendants of Canaan, the son of Ham, who were living in northern Canaan near Mount Hermon at the time of the conquest.
Hivite is from the Hebrew root word Chavvah (Strong H2333) meaning village, town, tent village, an encampment of a village.
The Jebusites – Yebuwciy (Strong H2983) – descendants of Jebus the third son of Canaan who lived in or around the site of Jebus. This was the early name of Jerusalem.
Yebuwciy is from the root word Yebuwc (Strong H2982) meaning threshing floor or a place that was trodden down.
When I combine the above definitions of the nations I received a clear message from the Lord.
The Lord is saying to me that I still have fear in my heart that I need to overcome. I am still clinging to the past (clayey soil) refusing to venture into new territory.
The Lord is saying to me that there is still pride in my heart that I need to cast out with the spirit of Humility.
Maybe I speak my mind too freely or perhaps I will be boastful when He has blessed me with great wealth.
The Lord is also saying that I am narrow-minded and lack tolerance. I am also downtrodden and living a defeated lifestyle.
The seven nations/giants that are occupying my Promised Land that I need to cast out.
1. Fear
All my life I have been battling with fear.
Fear constantly tries to sneak into my life in different forms trying to destroy myself and family.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (1 John4:18)
I will cast out the nation or giant of fear with love, power, and a sound mind.
2. Pride
But He giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:6-7)
The giant of pride is destroyed by humility.
3. Timidness
For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the Lord thy God thrice in the year. (Exodus 34:24)
The Lord promised to enlarge my borders as long as I am obedient to His words. The Holy Spirit will give me the boldness to venture out into new territories.
4. Intolerance
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. (Colossians 3:12-13)
The giant of intolerance is defeated with love, kindness, longsuffering, meekness, forgiveness, and patience.
5. Partiality
I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality. (1 Timothy 5:21)
Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous. That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. (Deuteronomy 16:19-20)
The giant of partiality and discrimination are conquered by the spirit of fairness and justness.
6. Living in defeat
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:57-58)
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4)
Our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ has given us the victory. Amen!
7. Past Sins
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; (Solomon 2:11-12)
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins. (Ephesians 2:1)
The giant that keeps reminding us of the past sins has been defeated by the finished work on Calvary. We are made alive by the power of Christ’s resurrection.
As I continue to meditate on the Word of God and apply it to my life, eventually all seven nations/giants in my Promised Land will be thrown out.
