A Lamentation For The Church

A loud cry of lamentation from the four corners of the earth!

The voice of the Lord thunders from the heavens, over the mountains, and below the valleys,

“Where is my Church, my chosen?

Where are you hiding?

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. (1 Timothy 4:1)

What is this you have done to me?

You have gone astray following after strange doctrines.

What have you done?

The voice of the unborn blood is crying out from the dust of the earth.

What is this you have done?

You have listened to the voice of deception and ate the fruits of lies.

You have plowed wickedness; you have reaped iniquity. You have eaten the fruit of lies, because you trusted in your own way, in the multitude of your mighty men. (Hosea 10:13)

What have you done to me?

How have I offended you, that you have brought on me and my kingdom this great sin?

You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done! (Genesis 20:9)

What deed is this you have done?

You have practiced divinations and the sins of witchcraft.

I am grieved in my heart for my people, my first born!

I weep for you because your judgment is fast approaching

And you harden your heart to my plea for repentance.

You killed my prophets, and you despised my servants.

Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; They have not uncovered your iniquity, to bring back your captives, but have envisioned for you false prophecies and delusions. (Lamentations 2:14)

But, you listened to the lies of the false prophets

Because you refused to believe the truth,

And prefer to follow after festive music and empty knowledge.

You corrupted yourselves in the filthiness of this world.

But woe unto you!

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;

Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;

Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,

And prudent in their own sight! (Isaiah 5:20-21)

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:17)

“Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord,

“Who take counsel, but not of Me,

And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, that they may add sin to sin.

They go down to Egypt, and have not asked My advice,

To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

Therefore, the strength of Pharaoh shall be your shame,

And your trust in the shadow of Egypt shall be your humiliation. (Isaiah 30:1-3)

I will pour My fury on sin, the strength of Egypt; I will cut off the multitude of No. (Ezekiel 30:15)

But, woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!

Woe to you, religious spirits and Jezebels!

For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men;

For you neither go in yourselves nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. (Matthew 23:13)

And again, thus, says the Lord God:

“Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!

The prophets are like foxes in the deserts.

They have envisioned futility and false divination, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord!’

But the Lord has not sent them;

Yet they hope that the word may be confirmed.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. (Romans 1:18)

Therefore, thus says the Lord God:

“Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies,

am indeed against you,”

Thus, says the Lord God:

“I will cause a stormy wind to break forth in My fury;

And there shall be a flooding rain in My anger,

And great hailstones in fury to consume it.

So, I will break down the wall you have plastered with untempered mortar,

And bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be uncovered;

It will fall, and you shall be consumed in the midst of it.

Then you shall know that I am the Lord. (Ezekiel 13:3-8; 13-15)

That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of devastation and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness. (Zephaniah 1:15)

Thus, says the Lord God to the shepherds:

“Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves!

Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?

You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool;

You slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock.

The weak you have not strengthened,

Nor have you healed those who were sick,

Nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away,

Nor sought what was lost;

But with force and cruelty, you have ruled them.

My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have led them astray; they have turned them away on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill; they have forgotten their resting place. (Jeremiah 50:6)

So, they were scattered because there was no shepherd;

And they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered.

My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill;

Yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth,

And no one was seeking or searching for them.

The sheep have become goats!

Thus, says the Lord God:

“Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand;

I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep,

And the shepherds shall feed themselves no more;

For I will deliver My flock from their mouths,

That they may no longer be food for them.” (Ezekiel 34:1-10)

Alas for the day! For the day of the Lord is at hand;

It shall come as destruction from the Almighty. (Joel 1:15)

Let us cry unto God and repent!

Consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord. (Joel 1:14)

  1. This is so random of me to write but I just came across your blog and I am so in love with it! You have created a really lovely website here and I am so happy to have found it. I am going to follow you so I can keep up to date with all of your wonderful posts, keep up the great work!

  2. Yes, we will be lamenting soon, for Gods Judgment is at hand. How can a Righteous God not judge this world as it is right now? All he wants is to be in right relationship with His Creation. He loves us so much and all He desires is for us to turn from our wickedness, and repent and freely give Him our love in return.

    At the rate we’re going, it appears that the world is past the point of no return. It would seem though that 2 Chronicles 7:14 would still apply as long as we have breath in our being. May God Almighty have mercy on us all.

    2 Chronicles 7:14   If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land…….Amen

  3. The Lord is indeed grieving for His Church because there is hardly any distinction between the Church and the world. Both have allowed money to dictate to them. Money has become their gods. The Lord has declared judgment and we need to repent. What better way to do this than during this weekend when we reflect upon the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
    Thank you so much Susan for your input. I can depend on you to add to our spiritual understanding of the word.
