The Age Of Strong Delusion
The Bible stated that the day of the coming of the Lord would not come unless there is a falling away first and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition. Therefore, we must not be deceived.
This man will oppose and exalted himself above all that is God, or that is worship. He will sit as God in the temple of God, showing himself to be God. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-17)
Who is this man of sin, the son of perdition? Many Bible prophets and scholars claimed that this man is the Antichrist – an ordinary man. Is he already in the world or should you be looking for him?
Paul wrote these words many years ago, and since then, many barbarian world leaders and dictators could be identified as the man of sin, if he is indeed a man. Do you believe he is a man?
I don’t! Paul was prophesying something much bigger than a mere human being. The fact that he predicted it after the resurrection of Christ tied it in with the Book of Revelation. The man of sin will be after the working of Satan with all power, signs and lying wonders.
Anyone who does not love or believe the truth of God’s word will be deceived because God will send a strong delusion on them that they should believe a lie. They all will be condemned (judged) because they believe not the truth but have pleasure in unrighteousness.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)
Delusion means misconception, fantasy, hallucination. It means people will be living in a fantasy state preferring to believe a lie instead of the truth.
During the captivity of Judah in Babylon, many false prophets told the people that God was going to deliver them from their enemy.

Only Jeremiah prophesied the truth and told them that they would be in bondage for a very long time, so it was best that they try to develop a regular life by building houses, find jobs and continued their life.
However, the people prefer to believe a lie, and they persecuted Jeremiah until he became so frustrated that he decided to stop prophesying because it appeared as if he was only preaching terrible things to the people while the others were telling the people what they wanted to hear.
But, the word of God was like a fire shut up in his bones, and he had to release the word (Jeremiah 20).
Do you recognize the great deception that is present in the world today? If you cannot see it, refresh your mind here.
Many people are under delusion because they refused to believe the truth of God’s word and love the pleasure of this world. All that is in the world is the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.
The Society contains many false prophets who have a platform to preach lies to millions of followers. The real prophets of God are stifled because they can’t get an opportunity to proclaim the actual word of God and when they do, hardly anyone listens or believe.
This situation further clarifies that we are indeed living in the age of deception. Therefore, the man of sin is present in our world. He may very well be in your home. Do you believe this? Ask the Lord to open your eyes so that you can carefully examine the evidence around you.
Those who are called by God and are obedient to His word will not be deluded because we were chosen from the beginning to receive salvation through sanctification by the blood of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit and the belief of truth (2 Thessalonians 2:13).

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Therefore, my friends, stand fast, hold the tradition that you were taught whether by word or message. Comfort your heart in the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 2:15-17).

The antichrist will be coming in peacefully and prosperously. Keep your eyes open to what’s going on around you. Jesus said take heed that no man deceive you. The delusion (deception) is so great for there to be a great falling away; so great that even the Elect could be deceived IF that were possible. Who are the Elect? They are Gods Remnant Church that He is building in these last days. These are the days of Revelation. Revelation means to reveal. All things hidden are being revealed. Prophesy is unfolding right before our eyes. Remember in Jesus’ time, prophecy was unfolding right before their eyes, and even the Pharisees who studied the Torah, missed their visitation. So in our days let us be awake and lean in to God, stay in His Word, study to show ourselves approved, have our full Gospel Armour on, and fight the good fight of faith.
We are definitely living in the end times. The tares will be taken out first, for the time of their torment (that which they were so fearful of in Jesus’ time on earth) is at hand.
God Almighty is on the Throne and He is over all. Fear not. He is our strength and our refuge, a very present help in trouble.

Like so many believers, I used to believe that the antichrist or son of perdition is an actual person. Not so much these days. I think this refers to spiritual forces or strongholds.
You mentioned one reason for this: The antichrist is so much bigger and farther reaching than a mere human.
Will there be someone who embodies this spirit some day? Possible; I don’t really know.

Similar to the days when Jesus was on earth so it is with us today. There will be many religious people who will miss the true revelation of God’s word because they are caught up in their own agenda. There will be many people who will be possessed by the spirit of the antichrist who will try to deceive us. But the elect will not be deceived. Let us endeavor to be part of the elect group. Thank you, Susan, Joseph and lifehelps for insights.
