Be Your Brother’s Keeper!
Miriam was the older sister of Moses. Her mother told her to watch over her baby brother whom she placed to float in the Ark in the river. I am sure that she was ready to protect her brother from wild creatures that lurk around and inside of the river.
Miriam watched as the princess saw her baby and when she held the baby lovingly to her bosom rocking him gently to soothe his tears. She knew instinctively that her brother had found a new mother who would take care of him.Miriam quickly emerged from her hiding place, walked boldly to the princess and offered to find a nurse who would feed the baby
Miriam’s action was a typical example of being your brother’s keeper.
Become your brother’s keeper, and God will be your keeper.
The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nNor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore. (Psalms 121: 5-8)
