Benefits Of Following Christ

What are you willing to sacrifice for God?

Are you willing to sacrifice your well-paid job?

Are you willing to sacrifice your only child similar to Hannah?

Over the years, I have learned to give up certain material benefits in obedience to God.

The decision to relinquish something you hold dear to your heart can be painful, but if you wait patiently on the Lord and trust Him you will reap the reward.

A great example of this is seen in the story of Abraham when God told him to leave his familiar home to an unfamiliar place.

Abraham obediently got up and went!

There are sacrifices in following Christ!

Indeed, Jesus tells us that anyone who desires to follow Him must deny himself take up the cross and follow Him (Luke 9:23).

The cross for Christ was the chastisement for our sins, but the cross for us represents the purification of our sins.

There are also countless other benefits of following Christ. Let us examine a few.

 Benefits of following Christ.

  • Fishers of men. You will have the opportunity to lead many people to Christ (Matthew 4:19)
  • Healing, deliverance, and restoration. You are empowered by God to cast out demons and to lay hands on the sick in the name of Jesus. (Matthew 9:27-30)
  • Wisdom and revelation. You can ask God for wisdom and He will graciously give it to you (James 1:5).
  • When you receive Christ you receive the Father and you will reap the inheritance of Christ. You will also receive abundant life (Matthew 10:39-42)
  • You will gain treasures in heaven and God’s right hand (Matthew 19:21).
I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)
  • When Christ returns, you will be part of the judgment team to judge unrepentant men on earth (Matthew 19:28).
  • You will not walk in darkness but have the light of life – the Lord Jesus Christ (John 8:12).
  • You will become a faithful sheep knowing the voice of the Good Shepherd (John 10:27).
  • The Lord will honor you (John 12:26).
  • You will receive rest from your labor and everlasting life (Revelation 14:13).

You can’t afford to miss out on these great blessings so I encourage you that if you have not received the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, He is lovingly waiting for you to do so today.
