Is it possible for the Spirit of the Lord to leave you?
The Lord said that His Spirit will not always strive with men forever (Genesis 6:3). Although the Lord is long-suffering He does not tolerate sin.

The Holy Spirit will convict you of sin and encourage you to repent.
But, if you harden your heart and continue to walk in presumptuous sin God will eventually leave you to your reprobate mind (Romans 1:28).
How will you know if this has happened to you?
Three pieces of evidence that the Spirit of God has departed from your life
1. A period of dryness in your life
The Lord is no longer speaking to your heart and in spite of your many prayers, the Lord does not hear you.
There is a lack of revelation from God so you seek directions from prophets, horoscope, stars and zodiac signs and psychic.

2. Constant trials with no period of rest.
When the Spirit of God is no longer with you, you will become vulnerable to the attack of the enemy and your trials will seem endless.
The spirit of fear will torment your life.
3. You return to your sinful lifestyle
If you feel compelled to return to your former sinful lifestyle, the Spirit of God is no longer with you.
The Holy Spirit will only live in a clean heart.

The man who lost the Spirit of God
King Saul, the first king of Israel, found himself in this low position when the Spirit of God left him due to his disobedience.
But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him.
(1 Samuel 16:14 NKJV)
The Holy Spirit who once brought comfort and peace to Saul was replaced by a distressing spirit that brought confusion, restlessness, and periods of insanity.
Only the soothing music from David’s harp could drive away the distressing spirit and console the king (1 Samuel 16:23).
Eventually, there came a time when the Philistines threatened to attack and destroy Israel so the king sought the Lord for guidance (1 Samuel 28).
But, despite Saul’s prayers and sacrifices, God did not answer. The Lord had permanently rejected him.
Consequently, the king decided to seek advice from a medium. He was returning to the spiritualists whom he had chased out of the land.
The prophet Samuel had died and was buried, so Saul disguised himself and visited one of these mediums to bring up the spirit of Samuel. He had returned to the dead spirits.

During the incantation, the medium was shocked when the real spirit of Samuel appeared. She was expecting a familiar spirit from the devil.
Notwithstanding, the prophet Samuel was outraged that Saul had used such a media to disturb his rest and he pronounced judgment upon Saul and his household.
Then Samuel said: “So why do you ask me, seeing the Lord has departed from you and has become your enemy? And the Lord has done for Himself as He spoke by me. For the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David.
Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord nor execute His fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day. Moreover, the Lord will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.”
(1 Samuel 28:16-19 NKJV)
Terror seized the king when he heard of his impending doom and he refused to eat even though he was weak with hunger.
However, the woman along with Saul’s men managed to persuade him to eat.
Can you see the trail of despair that follows someone when the Spirit of God has left him?
First, an evil spirit takes residence in your life. Then your life is plagued with confusion and restlessness.
The Lord no longer hears your prayers and you resort to witchcraft. You then become vulnerable in the hands of the enemies.
If you find yourself in this position there is still hope for you because Jesus Christ came to save sinners regardless of the state in which they find themselves.

Reach out to Him today!
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness, where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, and saw My works forty years.
(Hebrews 3: 7-9 NKJV)
