Sam thought it would be nice to buy his wife a gift for her birthday but he was always short of money. He thought about it for quite some time.

Unable to decide, Sam went to the cosmetics section of a general department store and asked the young lady at the counter for advice.

“How about some perfume?”  She asked, showing him a bottle costing $150.

“Too expensive!” Exclaimed Sam.

The young lady returned with a smaller bottle for $50.

“Oh dear,” Sam grumbled, “this is still far too much.”

Getting rather annoyed at Sam’s meanness, the sales lady brought out a tiny $10 bottle and offered it to him.

Sam became really agitated, “What I mean,” he complained,  “I’d like to see something really cheap.”

So the sales lady handed him a mirror.
