Restoring Your Joy

If you fall out of the will of God due to disobedience you can lose the joy of your salvation.

The angels rejoice when one soul is saved and thus this joy is transferred to the individual’s heart when he gets saved.

David lost his joy when he fell into the sin of adultery but when he was confronted with his sins he immediately fell on his knees in repentance to God.

He prayed the following prayer.

“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice.

Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.

create in me a clean heart

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted to You.” (Psalms 51:1-2;7-13)

If you are feeling depressed, lonely, or stagnant you have lost your joy.

But, you can restore your joy simply by praying the above prayer.

The Lord is your strength and salvation and so feel free to happily draw from His wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:2-3).

He will clothe you with the garments of salvation and cover you with the robe of righteousness (Isaiah 61:10).
