Surrendering The Problems To The Lord.

2–3 minutes

For the past few days I have been having car problems.

I have this car since 2011 and it has been like a faithful friend to me, never letting me down.

Suddenly, the car began to have multiple issues and they are all happening at a time when finances are tight.

What should I do?

The most natural thing for me to do is to worry.

So I worry!

Then I pray!

And then I worry some more.

But the problem continues to exist.

Worrying does not change the situation.

Worrying will not fix the car and it will not get me a new car.

While worrying may not solve environmental problems that affect you, it will create its own unique problems that affect you internally.

Some of these problems are depression, upset stomach, high blood pressure and stress related illness.

What happens when you pray?

Does praying solve your problems?

Praying may not solve your immediate dilemma but it will give you peace.

Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be known to God. And peace of God which passes all understanding will keep our hearts and mind through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7).

Knowing that you can hand over your burden to someone who is willing to carry it until the problem is solved is a huge relief.

So, I prayed and I gave thanks but my mind was still not at peace.

Upon careful consideration of the above verse I realized that I can only stop worrying when I surrender the car and its troubles into the hands of the Lord.

I decided to try this strategy.

Lord, I comitt this car into your hands. I cannot fix the problems but I trust you to take charge of the situation.

Therefore, I will not think about tomorrow. I will not try to figure out how I can solve the problems.

I will not lean on my own understanding.

Instead, I will trust you with all my heart and I will acknowledge you in everything that I do.

I will comitt all my plans into your hands so that you can direct my path.

I will live one day at a time trusting in your mighty hands because you are Jehovah Jireh.

My Provider!

Amen!

Now I am at peace!

Proverbs 16:3; Matthew 6:25

  2. It is good to lift up our troubles to the Lord. Yesterday I needed some work done on my car. The Lord guided me away from a repair shop that just did not feel right to a place that really helped me out.

    1. So true. It is a matter of surrendering the problems to God. They will not immidiately disappear but you will receive peace knowing that God is taking care of the situation.

  4. Turning all my problems over to God is a lesson I have to learn over and over again. Once I go to God in prayer, though, I’m usually able to feel at peace with the situation. If I’m not at peace, it is because I really didn’t turn it over to Him. This is an excellent message you’ve shared today, Beverley.

    1. Thank you, Janet for sharing your thoughts on this. I too am guilty of not leaving the problems with the Lord when I prayed, but God wants our total trust.

  5. I am a worrier. I wish I could say that I always hand it over to God immediately. I don’t. I have a different way of handing my worries over. In my head, while I pray, I wrap it and tie it up in a box and hand it to the Lord. I have been doing this for years and for some reason when I do that I instantly feel at peace. This is a great reminder to trust in the Lord.

    1. That is so true. As we begin to worry we should let it remind us to pray instead. Eventually we will find peace. Thank you for sharing.

  7. I love the importance here, knowing that once we give it to Him we let the burden go…I struggle with this too, in fact I’ve been whining about the expenses that go along with my kids’ teenage years..your post is such an important reminder and step to handing it over to Him!!

    1. I realized that the enemy will used our words against us. I had recently mentioned to someone that I am glad my car is not giving me any trouble because I cannot afford a new one until my son finished college in four years. A few days after, my car overheat and almost caught fire going home on the hill. I believe it is the enemy using my fear against me. Thank you for your encouraging words. Blessings.

      1. Yes, He will take care of it. It’s amazing how He provides for us and works things out. A new car sounds nice too if he leads you that way. ❀️
