What is the first thing that you see in the morning?

What is the first thing that you hear in the morning?

Is it bad or good?

We control whatever our eyes see and whatever our ears hear.

Last Sunday morning while I was tuned in to my church Zoom service, my daughter texted me that she wanted to speak to me urgently.

She said that she heard that one of her high school friends had suddenly passed away.

It so happened that we had just prayed for the family of this young girl whose life had come to an abrupt end, but I did not know that my daughter was acquainted with her.

It was a sad situation that no parents should ever have to endure.

After reading a few bible verses of comfort to her and praying for her the bereaved family I returned to the Zoom service.

About an hour later my son woke up (he is a late sleeper) and as I mentioned to him about the death of the young lady he said that he already knew about it.

I wondered how he knew, but before I could ask him, he told me that he saw it on Facebook and Instagram.

So I asked him if Facebook and Instagram are the first things he looked at in the morning and his reply was yes.

So I shared with him that whatever he sees or hears first in the morning will determine if he has a good or a bad day.

If the first thing that he hears is bad news then this will affect his emotion, appetite, and ultimately his productivity for the day.

Therefore, to ensure that he has a good day he should make sure that he begins his morning in the right way by praying and reading a bible scripture.

I told my son that praying can consist of only a few words of thanksgiving to God for allowing him to see another day.

A Bible verse can be any Word that the Holy Spirit place on his heart.

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. (Psalms 5:3)

Because the Lord knows what lies ahead of us He will always give us the right Word that will prepare us for whatever news that we might receive later.

Facebook and Instagram promote the things of the flesh.

Their goal is to advertise their products whether personal or business. They do not care about your personal well being.

But God has always sought to have a personal relationship with you because He has a great plan for you.

Since the Lord has your best interest at heart, then give Him first preference in your life and let Him be the first person you see and hear in the morning.

    The first thing I see is my coffee maker for a cup of coffee. Then I watch worship videos on Youtube to wake up and start to pray

      Short, sweet and to the point Matthew. My husband would like your response. Mine is a longer version which would probably cause him to snooze halfway through listening, ha ha ha. He’s very gracious though and listens, but sometimes I wax way too much on details before I get to the point. See. I’m doing tjat rigjt now with you. 😊…..I don’t take it too personal, he was like that in his early school days. He would rather be outside playing than be in class. Blessings to you. 🍵

      I see you have a routine established. 🙂. I need my coffee in the morning to wake up also. However, this week I took a break from the coffee because I was feeling a bit anxious in body for no reason. How is your weekend so far?

    So true. Great words of wisdom Beverley. When I open my eyes in the morning the first thing I see is the ceiling. It tells me what time it is. Our clock has a red projection light that reflects the time. The first thing I hear in the morning is my alarm clock, which is my cat Emily meowing that it’s time to get up and feed her. The first thing I smell in the morning is the coffee brewing. Then I settle down on the couch after I feed my cat and enter into prayer and read my bible and the days devotionals. That’s what starts my day off on my work days and days off. This morning on my drive to work I listened to a Paul Wilbur CD ‘Your Great Name’, the songs were Song of Ezekiel, and Prepare the Way. Great praise and worship songs. By the time I got to work I was ready to take on the day with a positive outlook knowing God will bless me all through the day as I had blessed Him by starting my day with prayer, worship and praise to Him. Sorry this was so long, but you’re right on how we should start out our mornings. It makes all the difference.

      Hi Susan. I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far. You seemed to have a very organized morning and that is exactly how it should be.

      I need to follow in your footsteps because I am not so organized in the morning. Every morning it is a challenge to get out of bed when the alarm goes off at 6am. I usually remain in bed for another hour sleep or so. 🙂 But, when I do get up I just take five minutes to thank the Lord for letting me see another day. Then I tell myself that “this is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it.” After that I race around trying to get out of the house because I am always running late. I thank God that I do not have any children to get ready for school. Those days use to be tough.🙂. My best morning is when I obey my alarm at 6am and get up to pray. Thanks for sharing your morning with us. Blessings

        Yes, today was a busy day for me. I’ve been putting off doing the laundry until this morning. Had 3 large loads. Alot of folding. I got it done before our lightening and thunder storm, and rain. Wow, it was right over our heads. It has poured most of the day. Quite a switch from our previous days of 90° weather. It’s called weather whiplash, which is happening all over our country.
        My weekends start on Fridays and end on Mondays. I like that. Sometimes it takes that long to unwind from the events of the day and work in general.
        It took years to discipline myself to dedicate time in the morning for the Lord, but once I set my mind to it, eventually I could see that blessings do follow; not just for me but for those around me.
        Best time to pray for me is early in the morning, and then it just turns into a continual conversation with God, which is really what prayer actually is. Trust me, I barely make it to work on time. I’m notorious for dawdling before I head out. Then I inhale my breakfast and out the door I go. It takes about 7 min to get there if the street lights work in my favor.

        I think you’re doing great Beverley with how you start your days. Your blogs are evidence of that. Congratulations on your Sunshine Blog award. Becoming the Oil and the Wine has really grown with followers since I first discovered it. You’re a gifted writer and well researched. Thank you so much for being faithful to the Lord with all the wisdom He has given you. Have a restful weekend while receiving Gods continual blessings. ♡

        Thank you, Susan for your encouraging words. You help to motivate me to continue writing even when I felt like giving up. But I will not. This is my life calling and I will press on. Thank you for updating us on you days. The weather pattern is changing a lot these days. Today is the begining of our hurricane season and it is predicted that it will be a rough one. However, we trust a mighty God. I have started my preparation so by the help of the Lord I will be well prepared. Have a blessed week.

    This is so true! Usually the first thing I see in the morning is my Bible plan. Years ago our preacher said he only wants God to be the first thing he thinks of in the morning and the last thing he thinks of at night. I’ve try really hard to stick to that. And I usually have a whole lot of God in between, too. 😁

    Very true! Social media along with text messages, and other notifications can quickly grab our attention first thing in the morning. Prayer and scriptures are the best way to start our day. They sets the tone for the rest of the day. Thanks Beverley!

      Sometimes the constant notifications can be annoying. We have to be determined to ignore the phones and seek the Lord first.
