Thanksgiving Sunday!

I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among many people. (Psalms 35:18)

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in Him with thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:6-7)

It is important for us to understand that it is only when we walk with Jesus that our faith will be strengthened.

It is only when we abide on the vine of the Lord Jesus Christ that we will be rooted and grounded in faith.

Our faith will be established when we abound or flourish in Christ with thanksgiving.

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; to the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever. (Psalms 30:11-12)

    It’s interesting to think that being rooted is not just a fact (because Christ has grafted us in to the vine), but it is a choice too. We can have live in fear, anxiety, apathy, or even disobedience as if we aren’t actually rooted!

    Being thankful keeps our focus on God and not our problems. The more we allow God’s peace to be in control, the more thankful we become. And it also works the other way around, the more thankful we are the more of God’s peace we will experience.

    Today, many issues like emotional instability is being treated with drugs and medicines. It’s design to bring relief, many have side effects, some leave you in a worse condition than before you start using it. For the Believer, thankfulness and praising God is our antidote. Thanksgiving gives us the right perspective and it decreases anxiety and worry in our lives.

    Side note: Before anyone comes for me, I am not stating that if you have some type of psychological disorder to disregard taking your medication. I believe that God can work through medicine. He heals in three ways–miraculously, through medicine and through fellowship (He takes you home).

      I agree with you Kim. The medicine is good, but we should not become dependent on it. I believe many mental and social issues can be relieved when we develop a spirit of forgiveness and thankfulness. I appreciate your keen insight on this topic. I pray that you will have a blessed week in the Lord.
