The Power Of Christ In Our Lives

It is interesting that Jesus specifically told the Jews who questioned His authority that before Abraham was, I AM.

Jesus used the name that God gave Moses at the burning bush: I Am Who I AM.

A name that referred to His presence in the beginning, present, and future. Jesus was present at the beginning of creation as the Word.

In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (John 1:1-5)

The above verse confirmed that Jesus, as the Word, was with God when the world was created. He was also the light that God called forth to remove the darkness. This light gives life to men.

We learned in one of our daily devotion that there is imparted power in the name I AM. Jesus also confirmed this power when He identified who He is in our lives.

The power of Christ in our life

  • Fulfillment

Only in Christ that we gain fulfillment.

I AM not come to destroy, but to fulfill. (Matthew 5:17B)

  • Bread of Life

And Jesus said unto them, I AM the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. (John 6:35)

  • Light of the world

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I AM the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12)

  • Supremacy

And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I AM from above: ye are of this world; I AM not of this world. (John 8:23)

  • The main entrance – the door

Then said Jesus unto them again, verily, verily, I say unto you, I AM the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I AM the door: by me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:7-9)

  • Good Shepherd

I AM the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. (John 10:11)

  • The resurrection and life

Jesus said unto her, I AM the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. (John 11:25-27)

  • The way, truth, and life

Jesus saith unto him, I AM the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. (John 14:6-7)

  • Unity

Believe me that I AM in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. At that day ye shall know that I AM in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. (John 14:11, 20)

  • True Vine

I AM the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I AM the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (John 15:1-5)

May the power of Jesus Christ be manifested in your life.
