The devil likes to operate in secret.

He will creep sneakingly upon you and whisper temptations in your ears.

Then, he will remind you that you can do these bad things secretly and no one will know.

In  the secular world you often hear about secret societies, secret oaths and secret knowledge.

They imply that only special group of people are privy to these tightly clad secrets. They are not shared with the general public.

These are not the type of secrecy that God deals with.

The secret place of God is a place of intimacy with Him. It is a holy place where only those with clean hands and pure hearts can enter.

Who may ascend into the hill of theLord?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. (Psalms 24:3-4)

The secret place of God contains the hidden treasures of the Lord. The treasures of wisdom, knowledge and understanding (Proverbs 2).

I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the Lord, who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel. (Isaiah 45:3)

The secret place of God is a place of refuge where He will hide and protect you from the enemy.

For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. (Psalms 27:5)

You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. (Psalms 31:20)

The secret place of God is in your prayer closet.

When you go inside and shut the door and pray to your Father, who is right beside you in the secret place, He will reward you openly (Matthew 6:6).

But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. (Matthew 6:17-18)

The Lord speaks to us in parables in His secret place. The natural man will not understand these parables, only those who have the Holy Spirit of God.

“I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.” (Matthew 13:35B)

The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant. (Psalms 25:14)

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. (Deuteronomy 29:29)
