Our most basic instinct is to retaliate immediately when someone does us wrong.

Repaying evil with evil will give the individual power over the other person. It may even give the person a sense of satisfaction.

But, does hurting somebody because they hurt you really make a person feels better?

The Lord clearly states, “vengeance is mine, I will repay.” (Romans 12:19)

God wants us to let Him take revenge on our behalf.

But, even if we allow God to retaliate for us we want Him to do it quickly, and we often scout around trying to find out if something bad has happened to whoever did us wrong.

What is the best thing to do when someone wronged you?

According 1 Peter 3:9, we should retaliate when we are insulted, but with kindness not with another insult.

Therfore, instead of cussing out the person who undermine us, we should pray for them. The old proverbs states that two wrongs don’t make a right.

Therfore, consider it a sacrifice to God when you render good for evil. The Lord will reward you for your faithfulness.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 

For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:43-48)
