The Bible records that the voice of God is powerful and mighty.
His voice is like the roar of thunder.
The Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered His voice. (2 Samuel 22:14)
Yet, God is able to speak to us in a still small voice that will convict our soul and comfort our hearts.
And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. (2 Kings 19:12)
But, when we speak to God, will He recognize our voice?
Does the Lord know your voice when you speak to him?
Every mother knows the unique voice of her baby’s cry from among all the others in the nursery.
So it is with God. When we all cry out to Him at once He can discern our individual voices.
However, some voices are lost in the crowd and never make it to the ears of God.
These voices come from hearts that are proud and not sincere.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart— these, O God, You will not despise. (Psalms 51:17)
The Lord will not hear the voice of those who have iniquity in their hearts.
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear. (Psalms 66:18)
But, the Lord will hear the cry of the righteous.
Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I will pray.
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up. For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, nor shall evil dwell with You. (Psalms 5:1-4)
The Lord will hear the voice of distress.
In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears. (2 Samuel 22:7)
God will hear your voice when you are in trouble and you call out to Him.
I cried out to God with my voice—to God with my voice; and He gave ear to me. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; My hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing; my soul refused to be comforted. (Psalms 77:1-2)
Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, for You will answer me. (Psalms 86:6-7)
The Lord hears the voice of those who seek Him with all their hearts and soul.
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” (Psalms 27:7-8)
God hears the voice of those who cries out to Him continually.
Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice. (Psalms 55:17)
God hears the voice of His people who praise and worship Him.
Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing out the honor of His name; Make His praise glorious.
Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You. All the earth shall worship You and sing praises to You; they shall sing praises to Your name.” Selah
But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me! (Psalms 66:1-4, 19-20)
Your prayers will not be answered if God cannot recognize your voice.
So, ensure that you make your voice distinguishable to the Lord.
