Pay or give?

Can you pay the Lord for all that He has done for you or do you give to Him?

Do you pay your offering and tithes at church or do you give your offering and tithes?

Pay is defined by the English dictionary as settling a debt that was owed; transferring money as compensation for work done; to give a certain amount of money in exchange for something.

Considering the above definition, when we pay our tithes are we settling a debt that we owed or are we paying God money in exchange for something?

Can we pay God for salvation? Can we pay God for deliverance, healing and restoration? Or can we pay God for His everlasting mercy towards us?

If God was to charge us for the sunlight, the rain, the air that we breathe and for the countless blessings that He bestowed upon us what is the most reasonable sum of money that each person should pay?

Bear in mind that some people may have to pay according to their consumption.

The people who only want to receive and receive will definitely have a hefty bill.

Because we have mindset that we should pay ten percent of our salary to God we treat it as a utility bill.

Let’s face it, most of us hates bills.

We know that we have to pay the bills, otherwise our electricity or gas will be cut off or worst we will be thrown out of our homes, but we still deslike paying them.

Sometimes we hate our landlords, not because they do us anything bad, but simply because we have to fork out some hefty cash every month to him.

Honestly, we hate bills, and if tithes and offering are compulsory bills we hate them also.

Thus, when we pay our tithes we do so grudgingly out of necessity and with a heavy heart.

Do you think God is please with us?

Before you answer, remember God knows our hearts.

It is impossible for us to pay God so He told us to give to Him.

What should we give to God?

Give the Lord your entire being (heart, body and soul) ( Deuteronomy 10:12).

Give ear to His commandments (Exodus 15:26).

Give an offering to the Lord (Exodus 30)

Give the Lord your first fruit (Nehemiah 10)

Give unto the Lord, O you mighty ones, Give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. (Psalms 29:1-2)

It is good to give thanks to theLord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night (Psalms 92:1-2)

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. (Psalms 107:1)

It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (Acts 20:35)
