Every encounter that Christ had with a woman, He brought blessing to her life.

On this special Mother’s Day, I want you to receive the blessings from the presence of Jesus Christ.

1. The gift of the Holy Spirit

The conception of Jesus brought blessings to His mother and while in His mother’s womb He gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to Elizabeth (Luke 1:26-45).

Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. (Luke 1:42-44)

2. Compassion

When Jesus visited Peter’s (one of His disciple) house, He immediately noticed that his mother-in-law was ill. Jesus gently touched her hands, and she was healed.

She left His presence ready for service (Matthew 8:14-15; Luke 4:38-39).

 So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them. (Luke 4:39)

Jesus had compassion on the widow who was taking her only son to be buried. He raised the boy, and she left glorifying God.

When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. (Luke 7:13-15)

3. Accommodating

Christ willing followed the Ruler to his house to heal his daughter. At the ruler’s home, Jesus made room by clearing out the doubters, and then He held her hands, and she was whole (Mathew 9:18-19; 23-26; Mark 5: 21-24;35-43).

Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement. (Mark 5:41-42)

4. Freedom – He is not too busy for you

Even though Christ was on His way to help someone, He stopped, turned around and acknowledge the woman who was determined to touch the hem of His garments and be healed.

The woman left his presence at peace and free from all her afflictions (Matthew 9:20-21; Mark 5:25-34).

And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” (Mark 5:34)

5. Flexible

Although Christ’s mission was to the lost sheep of Israel, He was moved by the faith of the gentile woman who pleaded to Him to help her demon-possessed daughter. The woman left His presence a victor (Matthew 15:21-28).

Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour. (Matthew 15:28)

6. Blessings on their children

Mothers brought their children to Jesus, and He laid His hands on them and blessed them. The mothers left His presence rejoicing because their children were given a good future. He was displeased with those who offended the little children (Matthew 10:13-15; Mark 10:13-16).

 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.  Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” (Mark 10:14-15)

7. Impartiality

He regarded those who do the will of God as His mother and brothers. They were all important to Him (Mark 3:31-35).

8. Exaltation

Christ praised the widow who gave her entire substance to God. (Mark 12:41-44)

So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” (Mark 12:43-44)

9. Forgiving

While Christ had dinner at the house of one of the religious elites, a woman who was filled with sin fell at His feet washing them with her tears.

She wiped His feet with her hair and kissed them anointing them with oil. Jesus did not reject her but accept her attention with love. Then He forgave her sins (Luke 7:36-50).

Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.” (Luke 7:48,50)

The woman left His presence free from the bondage of sin and with the peace of God.

10. Ministry (faithful followers)

The women who had been healed and delivered followed Jesus wherever He went. They looked after His daily needs (Luke 8:1-3).

Mary and Marth welcomed Jesus into their house. Martha served Him with substance, but Mary sat at His feet listening to His word (Luke 10:38-42).

 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her. (Luke 10:41-42)

Both women left His presence knowing that the best part of ministry is having an intimate relationship with God.

11. Kindness

Jesus felt it necessary to go through Samaria on the way to Galilee. In the city, He met a woman at the well whom He gave living water of salvation. He showed her that her life was precious to God (John 4:1-42).

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,  but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:13-14)

She left His presence with the gift of God – eternal life.

12. No condemnation, only deliverance

The scribes and the Pharisees brought to Jesus, a woman who was caught in the act of adultery.

They wanted to test Jesus to see how He would deal with her because the law required that she was stoned. Christ exposed the accusers’ sins such that they could not lift a rock to throw at her. They left His presence ashamed.

On the other hand, the woman left His presence delivered from her sins. She received the light of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 8:1-12).

When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”

She said, “No one, Lord.”

And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” (John 8:10-11)

13. Preparation

Before Christ death, He made preparation for his mother to be taken care of by His disciples (John 19:25-27).

When Jesus, therefore, saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. (John 19:26-27)

14. Happiness

The Seed of a woman brought forth the Son of the living God. The women first discovered that the Lord rose when they saw the angel who showed them the empty tomb.

The women left the graveside happy but fearful. But, on their way to give the good news to the disciple, Jesus met them and said, “Rejoice! Do not be afraid.”

The women left His presence rejoicing and fearless (Matthew 28:1-10: Mark 16:1-11).

Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” (John 20:14-15)

Every woman who met Christ left His presence a better person without any adverse effects.

So, why then are so many women in the Church hurt, insulted, discriminated, and intimidated?

We need to return to the teachings of Christ to remove the source of these corruptions from our midst.
