September is a special month for me because it is my birth month. However, I hardly enjoyed this month because this is the busiest month of the year for me. 

Although it is the end of summer vacation and the beginning of a new school term for the children, it also means the end of my vacation from school activities such as home works and projects.

So as the final week in August approaches, I become depressed.

So how do I cope? I know that I cannot accomplish those numerous tasks without the supernatural strength of the Lord.

My prayer during this time consists of three words: ‘Lord help me.’ My God never fails because instead of helping me, He carries me.

The month of September also brings another type of intense activity. The hurricane season begins June 1^st and ends November 30th, and most times September is the most active month.

I can remember at least two powerful hurricanes which devastated a few islands in the Caribbean during the week of my birthday.

Hurricane Gilbert (Category 3) created havoc in Jamaica on September 12, 1988; and in 2004, the center of Hurricane Ivan passed within twenty miles of Jamaica on September 11th.  It was a category five hurricane.

Children are as energetic and intense as the month of September. Therefore, this blog will dedicate the entire month to them.

Children are also a joy to have in your household.

Psalms 127:3 states that children are a heritage from the Lord and the fruit of the womb is a reward. Heritage means legacy or inheritance.

It, therefore, means that God reserves children as a reward for each of us. The above verse also reminds us that God wants us to be fruitful and multiply both spiritually and physically.

Each child who is born in your family come with a direct message from God to you and it is imperative that you receive it.

Parents, before you step into the roller coaster of back to school activities, set aside a few hours of this week to sit with your children and plan.

Yes, plan! Children are endued with a particular type of wisdom from God, so their opinions are valuable.

Discuss with them the food that they prefer to eat for lunch and breakfast.

Get their advice on how they want their study and play time to be scheduled and also the type of extra-curricular activities that they are interested in doing at school.

During these valuable family meetings with your children, you will be able to lead them in prayer and worship that will be more meaningful to them.

Remember do not preach to your children. Do not shout at them. Share with your kids!

As I wrote these words, my anxiety has decreased so I know definitely that God is telling me to, “Go and do likewise.”

I will most definitely obey, and I hope you will too.
