Have you ever felt as if God is far away? Have you been burdened with a problem for many years but still cannot get your deliverance even though you pray night and day? Do you feel lost and alone as if God has forsaken you? Do you feel defeated as if God has failed you?

For many years, I have had those feelings, and it did not matter how much I prayed I could not seem to get a breakthrough. Those days were filled with loneliness and fear, but I held on to God.

I was miserable and cranky, but I continued to trust God. I felt rejected, but I held on to hope because I felt sure that my breakthrough would come one day. And it did, after fourteen long years.

Why did it take so long? Was I been punished? I decided to ask the Lord, and He answered all my questions.

He told me that He has never leave nor forsaken me, and He never will. I just never knew.

For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people. (1 Samuel 12:22) Hebrews 13:5

The Lord forsook one man. This man was Himself when He came to earth to die for our sins. On the cross, all the iniquities of humanity in all their ugliness were cast upon Him, and He could not look upon Himself, so He turned away

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46)

In that split second, the earth trembled, and the heavens groaned but only a split second then it was over. The work was done, and He triumphed gloriously.

It was worth the price because He forsook Himself to give you and me life.

The Lord said He will always hear and answer us when we pray, and He always does. I just could not hear His voice.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. (1 John 5:14). I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. Selah. (Psalms 3:4)

“How could I miss hearing your voice all these years?” I asked the Lord.

He replied, “Your mind contained too much clutter and noise. If you are in a classroom, it is impossible to hear the teacher speaks when there is a lot of background noise. Well, this is the same principle with me.”

The Lord continued, “If I dwell in your heart, I will communicate with you! Will you have a friend in your home and not speak to him?”

‘No!” I said

“Well, I talk to you all the time twenty-four hours per day. I tell you what to do in your daily activity. I will advise and direct you on the right path. When you speak to me, I answer, but you do not know this because you cannot hear me.”

“How can I hear you clearly?” I asked

The Lord replied, “Get rid of the clutter and kill the noise in your mind and life, and you will hear my voice clearly.”

I did not know what was the clutter and noise in my life, so the Lord explained. The clutter is the things that you spend most of your time with. It can be your job, business, money, spouse, television, books, etc.

Getting rid of the clutter does not necessarily mean throwing them away, but it means spending less time with them and more time with God.

The noise is your secular dreams and desires and these you must kill and receive the desires that God has for you.

I obeyed the Lord, and my eyes became open to an entirely new relationship with Him. I could see plainly and more importantly I could hear Him distinctly.

Yes, it is true God is a ‘chatterbox.’ He never stops speaking, but He talks softly and gently soothing away your troubles. I welcome His voice every morning when I awake because it fills me with love and peace.

You do not have to suffer in a place of ignorance as I did. Receive the knowledge of the Lord and walk in deliverance and victory.
