The first woman that we were introduced to in the Bible was Eve. God created the man first, but Adam needed a helpmeet who could be his companion, so God created woman to be his improvement.

The meaning of Eve is to breathe or to live. She would not only give birth to children, but she was destined to bring forth the tree of life which would return everlasting life to humanity.

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.

 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve because she was the mother of all living. (Genesis 3:15, 20)
