Finding God: Will He Always Be Available?

Is there a time when you will not be able to find God?

Is there a time when the Lord will not be near to you?

Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; And to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7 NKJV)

The above verse in Isaiah 55:6, tells us that we should seek the Lord while He may be found and call upon Him while He is near.

Before we explore the “disappearance” of God from someone’s life let us explore when and who God is close to.

Those who are accessible to God

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. (Psalms 34:18 NKJV)

A broken heart and a contrite spirit means humility and sincerity. It also refers to the poor, the weak and downtrodden.

God is near to those who have a repentant heart.

God is near to those who call upon Him.

God is near to those who draws near to Him (Psalms 73:28).

God is near to His people through the Lord Jesus Christ who is our High priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:17-19).

Those who are alienated from God

God is far from sin. Therefore, you will alienate yourself from God when you practice wicked works (Colossians 1:21).

God is far from you and you cannot find him when you are dead.

The dead cannot praise God (Isaiah 38:18-19). Likewise, you cannot repent when your body is dead.

Is there hope beyond the grave?

There are some people who believe that they can pray for the dead, but that is a useless prayer.

While you are alive there is hope!

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. (*Matthew 28:5-6*)

You can be reconciled

The scripture says, “call upon the Lord while He may be found and while He is near.”

Therefore, the Lord is near and can be found by anyone who is alive right now.

“For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2 NKJV)

You will always find God now!

Fear not, God’s mercy and forgiveness never ends.
